I discovered earplugs about 18 years ago when I started commuting 53 miles each way to work on SoCal freeways. I see the V-twinners in their novelty half helmets with their ears in the wind and I can’t believe they haven’t figured out the damage they are doing to their hearing. I never get on the freeway for further than a couple exits without earplugs. Simple cheap orange ones work really well. Put them in the freezer for a couple minutes before putting them in, and they get really stiff, giving you more time to get them in place before the expand.

Really good video, I’ve been trying to decide to either go the MT-09 or R6 and I think you’ve definitely helped me choose. Will be going the MT. For so long I’ve thought the R6 was the only bike I wanted but after what you’ve said the MT sounds like the better option. R6 = race bike concerted to road, MT = bike for anything.

I can tell you. I have had several supersports, a 2014 FZ09 and now a 2020 MT09. Also had two GSXS 750s (nakeds). I not only do in town riding and commuting, but also canyons. These bikes are not just suited for more comfortable riding... except for the lack of power comparatively, the MT is absolutely the better canyon bike too with much less energy expended in riding spirited

@@BrosFOURRSpeed To be fair, I have not owned nor ridden the R6 or R1. I know they have the center of gravity lower than the other big 3. That said, I would invite you to have your friend's bike up there one day. I ride Del Puerto in California and have taken near all of my bikes up there with my uncle, who used to be a pro superbike racer. At one point, he had a 2015 FZ when I had my 2014. Going at the clip he goes, that was the only time we got back to the bottom and said, "Let's go again". The other bikes we take up there we stop after the first run because of how exhausting it is (for reference, it is 22 miles one way). His most recent bike, a 2019 R1, he tells me is much faster than the FZ obviously, but not as easy to ride. Give it a whirl and I think it would be a great follow-up video to this; regardless of if your thoughts remain the same
@steve7572

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Also, I got the 2020 MT after a 2019 GSXR750 and it takes a little getting used to. Not sure how much riding the MT you have done, but because I owned one previous to the GSXR, it was easier for me to get comfortable on it and to me, it whips easier. When I got my 2014, I came from a 2004 CBR1000 that I wrecked and then sold the FZ to get a K7 GSXR 1000. I have gone back and forth, back and forth, and so on between the nakeds and supersports. Each time I end up back on a naked. It's quite a money pit to be as wishy-washy as I am, LOL

Unfortunately the newer model MT-09 has picked up some weight with the addition of ABS, etc, but the 2014 FZ-09 which I have rolled off the dealer floor at 415lbs wet, which is 4lbs lighter than the R6. With all of the mods I’ve done, including Akrapović carbon exhaust, Evotech fender eliminator and passenger peg block off plates, Galfer wave rotors and smaller LED blinkers, I think mine is down to closer to 405, which is almost 20lbs lighter than the 2020. I will add that while the overall ergos are comfortable, the seat foam itself is NOT comfortable for long rides. At least it’s easier to stand up while riding on the FZ/MT
@lucyferina
4 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you know this or not, but the modes don't change power just throttle response,. If you think it makes it more aggressive, you will be correct, but if you thought it changes engine power... it does not. Basically if you put it in A mode (which on the MT-09 is the most aggressive, on the MT-10 that would be reversed and B mode is the most aggressive) you have to twist the throttle less to get a response, if you switch to B mode or standard you have to twist the throttle more to get a response. The power is always there just further or closer to reach throttle wise depending on mode. Also ABS doesn't help you when wet just helps you to not lock when hard breaking. TCS does help you in the rain or gravel, and keeps (for the most part) the front wheel down. but you can disable it.

"The MT09 will smoke the R6 on a slow speed drag race".. yet the 0-60 is identical and the R6 has a .3s faster quarter mile.. I understand the MT09 is torquey and definitely a ton of fun.. but as far as performance, if you don't short shift the R6, it'll have the MT09 for sure. The driver has a huge impact on the bike.. also hence the "i can't do a wheelie on this".. you gotta learn how to ride that bad boy.
@MrRhix

@BrosFOURRSpeed

The torque you get at low speeds on the MT09 will almost make it wheelie and gets going much quicker than the R6. While the 0-60 time may be the same on paper, all depends on rider skill level too like you said and the R6 is going to pass it at higher speeds no doubt. The R6 is almost impossible to wheelie unless you pop the clutch or put different sprockets on it. I've had other experienced riders try and it's not as easy as my brother CBR600 to get the wheel up.

I don’t think the Yamaha has 125hp. It’s got about 95-100 standard. As much as I wish it had more being my daily but pretty sure the MT has more hp if I’m not mistaken & google isn’t lying.

The 07 r6 is not the same generation as the latest gen The 08 r6 was the first of the new gen (coincidentally also the fastest r6 ever produced ) …. The 07 r6 doesn’t have all the things that make the 08 a proper grail bike The whole chassis is different , less twitchy , the whole engine is different , more mid range , etc…. The r6 from 2007 feels like driving a 90s sport bike , the 08 r6 is closer to race spec and is much more precise and violent 07 r6 feels like a k3 gixxer , 2008-2017 r6 feels like a laser Literally the 07 r6 feels like a 650 after you ride the latest gen r6

The fact they are cross plane doesn't mean they aren't 3 and 4 cylinders. That just means the design of the pistons are staggered instead of inline, doesn't change it being a 3 or 4 cylinder.

I kinda disagree about the MT-09 being quicker at slow speeds.. Ride the R6 how it likes to be ridden (12k+ rpm at all times) and use the clutch to modulate power at slow speeds. Make that b**** scream ;) I find myself accidentally wheelieing all the time during those kinds of launches. I hate when people just pin the throttle at 4k and say "wow this bike has no power, some race bike" that's not how to ride a 4-cylinder 600

ON the R6 you need to wait till the higher RPM to ge the power out of it. The MT09 has more torque. SO it will have more useable power in the low RPM range. The R6 even in 1st gear, you need to wait for the rev's to build to get the power. MT09 takes off quicker
