@vintageaudioreview I'm curious what a pair of these would currently sell for in excellent working and cosmetic condition with grills such as the pair you reviewed here? These seem to be in the same family as the small 2-way Yamaha NS-10M "bookshelf" speakers that oddly became the ubiquitous industry standard as portable and affordable studio monitors after being released in 1978 without much success in the HiFi market. I'm assuming that these NS-200M were also designed by Akira Nakamura and released around the same time? From what I've read, these are known to be more mellow in the midrange and top end compared to many of the other Yamaha models from this era, including the NS-10M, which were quite bright.

You know a lot more about these than I do do... I am not sure if my friend sold the pair I reviewed- check out the Tucson Craigslist to see if they are listed. I believe another friend has the NS-10's, which I have heard and thought they sounded good. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you have the opportunity to test the ns-1000, not the ns-10, witch are not never, even close, as good as the 1000s are.

I know someone who has the ns-1000's so maybe I will get a chance to test them at some point- thanks for commenting

This old speakers are sometimes a treasure that can be clearly enhanced with a new housing and crossover. Because that are the most common places where the red pencil from the marketing department has cut through the ambitions of the engineers. Back then it was mostly about numbers sold and the market was very competitive and fast-paced. A lot of quality was simply wasted back then.

Thanks for the comment, though the physical condition of them is pretty good and I am not sure that I would replace the crossover unless someone has done enough research into what would work best with its drivers.

I would call them a 4ohm speaker to be safe. I can't recommend a center channel speaker since I am not overly familiar with those, other than finding another NS monitor speaker

So, "we're talking about sound here?" First time watching your channel. Sound? Did I mention sound? OK, you've made over 100 of these videos, and it's time to get a proper microphone, so we can actually hear what you're saying. Seriously, look into a proper microphone system, at the least for the "in the room with the item" portions of your videos. Thanks!

I appreciate your comment and criticism. I honestly think the sound portion for the part you referred to in this video was fine- I had no problem hearing what I said. I have an external RODE video mic that plugs into my DSLR that I use to shoot most of the videos- at least for the last month or two, though the "tours" may be done differently sometimes- I am trying to improve. I actually purchased a new Sony camera for the videos but did not like they results and returned it. I will investigate a wireless option, but last time I checked could't find something I thought would work.
