I was a Yamaha employee and received their employee discount when buying a product they make. It's normally 40% below retail, but occasionally when you place your order the guy in charge will call you and make a deal on something else they want to get rid of. I had ordered a 2022 RevStar and he called me up and said he had a brand new 2020 that retailed for $1999 and he would sell it to me for $899. It was in Sunset Burst and the one I had ordered was black/cream. 60% off? Hell yes. It was slated for some guitar show that was cancelled because of the pandemic and they needed to clear it off the books. The fact that I could buy with that kind of discount is what turned my on to the RevStar. I would have never given them a glance had they not been such a good deal. But now that I own it? It is easily as good as any Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Gretsch, PRS, or other big name brand. And the Pacifica's are such a great value compared to a Strat. These guys are no joke. They are top shelf

I think Yamaha does a great job with the Revstar Standard line. They really put some tech in and don't miss out on certain important points like many other companies still do, even at higher price points. I mean even my Harley Benton LP style guitar for 240 € has Gotoh Hardware and Tuners + Stainless Steel frets. And after watching this video I really think about getting some nice P90 for it

Most of you guys are waaay better yhan moi, but I know a good one when I see one. Also could not resist the PRS DGT SE - best deal going! But the Yamaha P90s belong on that guitar. @chuckplainview4085
Жыл бұрын
I dont know if you've purchased one since commenting this but something I'd add to the discussion is filtertrons are harder to replace if you decide you don't mesh with them they might require routing or buying boutique pickups in that shape. With a p90 guitar there are pickups ready available in the p90s dimensions that are humbuckers, jazzmaster pickups, filtertrons whatever you like really. I was having the same thoughts before I bought mine and can say the aftermarket parts for p90 routes is unbeatable!

Im a gear snob and totally support made in USA whenever possible. But im fighting an uphill battle alone and I cant win, and if you cant beat em, join em right? Right now, grab a Rev standard and a Katana 100 and you’re good. Pretty much everything you need under 1500 for almost any gig. Thats the perfect beater rig for the bar. Keep the good heavy gear at home. Safe and sound. Im considering one myself. Even though made in Indonesia, of course made in Japan would be my first choice, but for Indonesia, its Yamaha, they wont allow junk with their name on it. As far a tone I can tell but the difference is very slight. If Yamaha could put out something that competes with the Katana, they have a winning combo.

I am an electric guitar beginner - own Revstar 420 and a Blackstar 1W amp - I must say it drives me close to crazy to see `reviews` of guys playing on guitars from my price range but on pedals for 300 bucks and amps for 1600. then later they mention something abot the `cab` and a freaking mike ----- I am sorry - I just find so pointless and so confusing for beginner players how to achive the tone . ALso whts the point ? how is the guitar affecting such amazing chain ? impossible to tell - probably not much ..... on the other hand I understand there such a variety of all the equipment out there ..... sorry just my 2 cents .
@coreycongilio
Жыл бұрын
In the digital video world, the chain actually doesn’t matter all that much. I know that sounds crazy but, I would be getting pretty much the same sound regardless of amp, pedal etc. This is the case because of how it’s distilled into the digital world. You’re really hearing the guitar in it’s truest form…that’s what I shoot for in a demo. I use the gear I have because I’ve accumulated it over years. Also, my channel hits a wide range of viewers in all ability levels and budgets so, I try to cover a lot of ground. My point is that, you’re not being tricked by the signal chain. The principles of tone apply to even the most basic of prices of equipment or the most refined higher end gear. Start with your amp on a clean sound. EQs set flat and go from there. That’s what I’m doing whether it’s a $300 amp or $5000 amp. Hope that makes sense!

Tried a Revstar and the P90's in it while sounding good, were pretty hot and not very dynamic or touch responsive for a P90... maybe due to the Alnico 5... in that yes the volume of the not will change depending on how you play it, but the character and attack don't change much depending on how you hit the note like on the more vintage p90's. So for a modern p90 sound it's great, but for a more articulate touch responsive vintage blues tone, I would replace the pickups.

I tried a couple these expecting great things and from what I’d seen on line I expected to walk out with one. The Element felt cheap with a chunky D neck profile that wasn’t very comfortable. The standard was better - nice neck but nothing special. I’m not saying they’re not good but I think they’re a bit over- hyped. Walked out with a Schecter in the end.

There is no 'standard' model, they all have specific model identifiers (RSxxx, etc....), can you be more specific? Which model is it exactly?

Got this guitar after watching this....Hmmmm, so far I don't like it. Have a revstar 620 and is a much better guitar Main complaint of the new rev' , pickups are much weaker, set up was much more work...built in boost does'nt seem to work very well. Do like the pedal that you're using in this vid.

Guitars don't magically get better once you go past a grand. Most guitars have about 75% bullshit in their price, you can grab a fantastic instrument for about 200 (insert local currency here) if you've a functioning brain on you.

Killer guitar. Is the hardware nickel or chrome? Only thing I would change is the poly coating, and to nickel hardware if it is chrome.
