You spread the legs slightly because it has a cruiser feel and heritage. It's not a defect, take it or leave it. It's old school, like the enduros of yesteryear...

I think this review really helped me decide I don't want this bike. This is the first one that gave a really good visual about your legs having to be spread to avoid getting burned on the left side and driving your knee into the air filter on the right side. They really blew that design because it's a cool looking bike. They should have moved the air filter down, even one or two inches would have made a huge difference. And a heat guard, something that actually works, would be good on the left side. I want to get a z900rs in a year when I guess they finally start coming out again. Another one I like is the Ducati scrambler. I was definitely thinking about a cruiser, but that whole air filter thing is going to have to be totally resolved on whatever I get

I always ride with my legs splayed out a touch. I never grip the tank. I really like this bike.

Great video. Loved the description of the issues you encountered. The SCR might very well be my next bike. Thanks.

That's an excellent honest review, particularly your detailed analysis of the bike's ergonomics.

Good down to earth review. At the moment I have a Triumph T120 a competent machine, but I have no feelings for it so I'm looking for something different.

Who needs to watch it? The ball vibrator has me sold LOL. Probably better if you just lay down on the seat completely

Is ball vibrating a bad thing? I’m asking for a friend.

I think the ball vibration can be a good thing, you just have to regularly shift your body. Leaning Way Forward can have an especially good effect

personally i hope somebody comes out with a decent replacement tank for the bolt, something wider but still with that flat side style. My understanding is that the bike doesn't have high fuel economy (supposedly less than my 16 year old vulcan 800 with a carburetor) so this wider tank would stop your legs from splaying out, increase your fill up distance, get the air cleaner away from your knees, and let you tuck your knees in. I'm surprised that yamaha didn't do this themselves just for the scr950. Small tanks are great for bobbers and cruisers, but to really ramp this up to compete with scramblers you have to be able to tuck your knees into the tank. Every rider knows how much tucking into the tank helps handling in low speeds and quick maneuvers. Of course if you make a tank too wide, it feels like your crotch will explode when you tighten your thighs, but they'd have a long way to go on that small bolt tank before that ever happened.

Thats Right Funny Air Filter Case. The same thing is also Said in Japan. Some Shops making plastic (Adopter Cover) to fit the Tank. Otherwise difficult to knee grip.
