Thank you. I have been looking for a thorough review of the new MK II version. You are one of the first.

You're very welcome. I'll be getting the Bose S1 Pro to review very soon and I think that could also be a good option for some people

If Yamaha dispensed with the bluetooth and expanded the mixer's eq section, this system would be much more user-friendly. Surely it's much easier to walk to a mixer and turn a couple of knobs, than it is to open an app.

Great video and thanks for posting it. I was thinking of one of these for a monitor facing towards three or four of us with acoustics, electric drums. Do you think that'd be workable? Cheers

I would say no... you'd run the risk of too much feedback. There are much more compact and convenient options for monitoring. Infact, I may have a video coming out very soon on another portable PA system. Keep an eye on the channel as I'm hoping to get my hands on it within the next couple of weeks. I suspect it'll be much more suitable for your needs.

Dan, great review. What are your thoughts on using two towers in a band situation? Three vocals, keys, electric guitar from amp, acoustic guitar direct in, bass drum backing tracks. Small venue 100 person audience

I would say that this would do the job, but don't expect mind blowing audio. At a sensible volume this would do the job. Dan x

Hi Dan, thanks for the review. With the sensitivity for feedback particularly for vocal acoustic gigging, would you suggest still getting this or something like the Bose L1s with portability in mind (and not too large settings)? Any other suggestions welcomed.

I think it depends on the size of the venue. This system is really pretty good for small to medium settings. Just be a little careful where you place the mics. And definitely use that EQ in the app as that will help you eliminate some of the nasty frequencies by rolling off a little of the lows.

Ref feedback - you’ve got your vocal mic pointing down towards the guitar. Try pointing the mic upward, away from the guitar.

Hi Dan would this be suitable for a church hall up to 100 people? 2 mics 2 guitars and a keyboard? Have you used a Bose L1? Regards Andy

Hey Andy. Personally I would say no. I understand you wouldn't need crazy amounts of volume in a church hall, but I would be wary of the amount of feedback you'd have to deal with. If you're content to keep things at a subtle volume it'd be fine. But you may struggle with that lineup to use the Yamaha. As for the Bose, I haven't personally tried that one, but from what I've seen and read, I think it'd be a very similar experience. Personally, I would suggest going for 2 active speakers, preferably 15". The HK Audio Pro Series are fantastic. Pair those up with a small mackie mixer or similar and that'd be more than plenty for a Church hall. Of course, it all depends on the budget. Hope this helps. Dan

Thanks@@palewizardrecords4734Dan. I was looking at the convenience of them. The singer uses a Bose currently and thinks it would be ok. Trying to save on engineer costs too maybe for a more simpler set up. I’ll have a look at the active speakers. I have a Mg10xUF Yamaha desk so that might be enough for a singer or duo. Cheers Dan

Hey. I haven't personally used the EV but have seen them in action. But from second hand evidence I would say they're very similar in performance. I guess it depends on which features you prefer. I'm hoping to get hold of the EV system soon for review though. Thanks for the comment. Dan

Louder than the Bose and more features. But bulkier, heavier. Haven't tried the Smartsmaster.
