Thanks for watching the review! There are a few more questions, discussions and suggestions popping up in the comments, so I will answer and summarize those here in this pinned post to make the information better available to everyone: - reach per tank of fuel: depends of course big time on the riding speed - when under 100 km/h it’s about 350 kilometers. It had about the same range as the Africa twin - the reserve light of the Tenere and my travel partners Africa Twin were always on at about the same time (the Tenere slightly earlier, but didn’t make a huge difference) - upgrade to bigger tank? For me a clear no. For me the reach is good enough, I can carry 9 liters of spare gas in my additional canisters. A larger tank means more weight and can change the dynamic of the bike - if I have distances where I don’t need any spare gas I just leave the canisters empty and they weigh nothing. In westafrica I used the canisters twice, but not because I really needed to, only because I started somewhere in the morning and wanted to make sure to really reach the next gas station and not having to fill the bike with the canisters in the burning desert heat. I have only been to one places in the world where I really needed to carry a lot of extra fuel - and with that small amount I am just not convinced that I would ever need a bigger tank. It’s convenient but you really don’t need it if you carry some spare canisters that you can fill. - suggestion of a few people commenting: changing the rear springs of the Tenere - which is not very expensive and is supposed to make a huge difference. - suggestion from a follower for everyone who can’t live with the vibrating display: camel adv kit for display and headlight - one question was if there are any problems with overheating in humid and hot climates. It can’t get much more hot and humid than in westafrica - and I had no problems with overheating whatsoever. Not even when standing still in a traffic jam for three hours at 40 degrees Celsius. - one comment suggested adding extra lights. I am night-blind so I can’t really see at night and I avoid riding in the dark as much as possible and only do it in absolute exceptions. So for me not a must (of course it’s as well good to be seen better in rain or bad weather, but I just don’t feel the urgent need to add any) - someone wanted to know: Why not the KTM 790 instead with its slightly bigger tank? I actually considered it but now I am very happy I didn’t get the ktm. Whenever I met travelers who were riding long distance with their ktm motorcycles they were really good mechanics and were used to having to fix their bike every now and then - you can have a different opinion but from all my experience and the people I know traveling on ktm motorcycles, my opinion is that ktm bikes are much less reliable than Yamaha bikes and you usually need to bring some mechanical skills. Two friends of mine got the Ktm 790 because the Tenere was not available in the USA for a long time and wanted to ride from coast to coast and back (that said: they had been traveling on their old KLRs before that through Mongolia and everywhere without any problem). They made only one way, one of the ktms had a broken engine, the other one some serious oil problems, so non of them was able to finish their trip due to both bikes being broken. That’s not what you want when you go to places like west Africa where there are no tow services or spare parts available (plus is the Tenere cheaper and better looking). There of course might be people who are happy with their KTM, but hearing about two new bikes breaking down on the same trip from people I know would not leave me with enough confidence to ever make a purchase like that.

Well, it occurred to me quite many years ago, to become the owner of a Tenere 600, With this bike, I covered more than 30.000 km, covering mostly routes on paved roads rather than off-road. What I still remember is the pain in my butts, a constant companion in all my travels, due to the hard material or design of the saddle. Maybe it was the fact that this motorcycle was shouting out for an upright driving position instead of sitting on it, as it was mostly intended for off-road use. Another negative point was the weak engine's power. By loading her with the panniers and the rest of my stuff I could barely be able to reach up 120 km/hr, driving her on the highway. Which, finally made me return to the street models. This model here, however, incorporates lots of developments and innovations since my old one. With that being said, I'd like to congrats you on your detailed presentations, as well as all of the high-quality video footage that you're uploading. I just finished your trip videos in Scandinavia, which I fully enjoyed it all Greetings from Greece

Yes, it indeed improved a lot - as well two cylinders are a big change! I as well have no problems to go a bit faster on highways with it. That said I never ride much faster than 130 km/h because for me it gets much more exhausting in higher speeds.

I'm riding the Ténéré 700 since june 2020 and did more than 11.000 kilometers on German roads and some gravel tracks across the fields. In fact 98% asphalt and about 2% offroad. For this the gear transmission is a bit too short/narrow, escpecially when you're riding in higher speed on the Autobahn. 170 km/h in 6th gear is possible but not fun with the u/mins. I often heard some iritation about the fuel cap - but in fact I never noticed that negatively. Since my first fuel stop I put the cap onto the ignition lock. There it stays safe and never fell down so far. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you and foxy lady!

I guess I am more all over the place when filling up - whenever I look for my fuel cap it’s in a different place 🤯😂 Yes, it’s not a Autobahn motorcycle - but that’s where we spend the least time of riding hopefully. And for the exception of a day or two on the highway every now and then for me it’s fine. Great that there is another Tenere lady around! ☺️

Great review. I always like real world reviews from the people who actually ride and own the motorcycles they are reviewing. I absolutely agree with some of the points you made. Loud mufflers do not make motorcyclists any friends, they just annoy people. I agree with the idea of spending your money on traveling instead of modifications. I bet that many who spend lots of money on modifications find they really can't tell the difference. People just can't bring themselves to admit that. I put an aftermarket center stand on my KTM. When the bike isn't loaded it works ok. When the bike is fully loaded I can barely get the bike up on the stand. You have a great video channel. I love the drone videos. Keep it up.

What a fantastic review!!! Very thorough, comprehensive and at the same time straight forward!!! Vielen dank!!! As to the problem regarding the short footpegs, an idea would be asking a lathe operator or a specialized metal worker to weld a customized piece of the same metal to each one of them to increase their size. Afterwards You would need to have them well scraped with a steel brush and painted or anodized, of course. They would't be original parts anymore but at least You'd solve the problem... Congratulations on this excellent review, happy trails und alles bestens!
@Got2Go
2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of after market parts and a lot of after market foot pegs for the Tenere - I think welding on them is not the best idea to be honest, usually things that are welded are more easy to break and you don’t want that for your foot pegs when riding.

Got2Go, very good review indeed. What sort of fuel range did you get, particularly in West Africa? For me the only real downside of this bike is not having tubeless tyres. When you are riding al;one it makes life so easy when you can just plug a tyre and use a little electric pump to re-inflate without taking the wheel off. There are some tubeless conversion kits out there, maybe somebody reading this has tried them on the Tenere?

Thank you - but it seems I can just talk very long 😂 I made just three notes what bigger chapters I want to talk about - and then it just went like that. Hope it’s not too unstructured. Bigger problem of the editing was that I had to change location of the filming in between because a farmer started to run a chainsaw right next to me. 😂 Good idea with the gps - but i only had to tighten and put it up about 2 times on the whole journey, so it didn’t bother me enough to think about a solution. 😂☺️

I am a happy owner of the T7. Coming from mostly road riding this bike is a breath of fresh air. I definetly need more offroad experience and picking it up isnt exactly easy but its not as expensive and the after market is great for the T7

This is the most thorough review of the T700 I’ve seen. Great job. Subbed.

Wait, it’s not Thursday! 🤪🤣🤣😉😘 Excellent review. I stopped modifying my exhaust, the older you get, the more annoying the constant loud sound of the exhausted gets to you, especially after a long days ride. I haven’t watched the Africa adventure yet, but I plan on watching it soon. 💪✌️👏👏👏

Does that mean I am old now because I don’t like the noise? 🤔😥😂 Can highly recommend to watch the Africa videos - if I rewatch any of the videos on my own channel it’s the ones from the westafrica trip because the whole journey was just so amazing. but be aware that the video quality is not as good as the one from the expedition north. I think from Mauritania on my editing improved a lot though step by step!

I'm really enjoying your videos. I've done some traveling on my Yamaha fJR1300a. However I'm considering an adventure bike, but don't want to go to a machine that's too large to safely negotiate off road riding. Thank you, and be safe in your travels......

Very good observation about the gearing being good for offroad vs bigger bikes. Journalists have missed this benefit.

Thanks I really am thankful for a woman's insight. I still wonder about woodlands off road trails but you've answered a lot of my questions.

I enjoyed the review very much. Your presentation was very informative and nice to listen to. ( Your soft accent helps also! ) I think the Yamaha 700 Tenere is the best combination of light weight, simplicity; combined with a strong off road performance overall. Other motorcycles may do some tasks better but unless you have a private bank behind your efforts, the Yamaha 700 Tenere is super value for money and a great option for long distances over rough roads.

Gruezi from Vancouver .....What a great review on the T7 and info on how it ACTUALLY is in the real world that we ride. The build /mods you have done on the FOX confirms some of my thoughts on the direction for my build, as you I also do LONG rides and for me as much as possible off tarmac. Some of your insights on travel are well presented and hopefully we will all be able to travel soon to those far away places. Pleased to see how well the Touratech gear looks and works on the bike. Any insights on those on those...I know some were early renditions? What are you going to add or mod next? Thanks Kevin Zucht

Great presentation and very candid sharing. I love Yamaha bikes, although am yet to ride the ever famous Tenere 700. Next time consider touring East Africa. With our beautiful sceneries, wildlife, hospitable and kind-hearted people you will NEVER go back to Germany a disappointed rider.

team low noise for sure too ! The tenere is a very nice bike and yes it's simplicity makes it stand out of the crowd. I'm sur it will set the trend for more " reasonable" bikes. The tenere is definitly the kind of bike that makes you dream about travels, just by looking at it and for me it's a real real strong point ! As many i tested it and immediatly started to eat more soup in hope my legs could grow just a bit . I remember the instagram stories when you get the bike, and if I am not mistaken you were the close second to get one just after nick sanders this says a lot about your status as and adventurer. hope to see you back on road very soon !

That’s exactly how it is - when I got on it when I got it back from Africa I immediately wanted to go on the next adventure. It’s as if my fox is telling me “we need to ride to places far away, NOW!” Had to laugh a lot about you eating soup to grow your legs! Hope it works out in the end so you can get a fox too! 😂

Hallo Lea, super!!
