Just remember don't forget if you look down at that single front tire that there is still two in the back. Don't do what i did in 1986 and put your foot down around a corner. Believe me it will suck you off that thing and slam you to the ground so fast you will break the sound bearer. LOL But there's nothing else like a 2 stroke 3 wheeler, They are so much fun.. Great TV Mike Ride the shit out of it!!!

Glad you enjoyed the series man! I'm actually pretty bummed... the two time I crashed this were off camera. I did indeed put my foot down to try to stop a roll and my leg got sucked under the back wheel. Thank god I was wearing my boots for that one or it could have been bad 😂

@@MichaelSabo you know, since you changed your 250R into a drag machine you know you’re gonna have to do a second one for the woods right?? 😂 man, I’m like $6,000-$7,000 into collecting parts for mine and I haven’t even bought anything high dollar for it. I have an ‘86 frame and I’m going to do a “budget XC Racer”…. At least as “budget friendly” as I can without buying chinesium crap for it. So far I have full flight +1 arms, stock rear axle, OEM rear shock rebuilt by noleen, 450R front shocks that I’m going to send off to get rebuilt for XC, I picked up a complete bottom end with a stator, got an ‘85 cylinder and head for free that has never been ported, FMF full exhaust, picked up some 450R stock front wheels and LT450R rear wheels for like $50 for all 4 wheels… I have a bunch of other parts that are all used that people have donated to the build and I tallied those parts up to $3,000 if I was to buy them all. I’m steadily collecting when I can, hopefully I’ll have that build up as soon as I have the parts to complete it.

AWESOME BUILD! your attention to detail is what makes yours just that grade higher then a avg top notch resto. I'm in the middle of a similar restomod of a old manco quester 308, now powered by a hopped up 570 cc briggs v twin. I like to build my stuff so that it looks factory but makes more power, looks a bit more stylish then factory and has a lot of small custom touches that only diehards will catch. You build your stuff the exact same way, love it!

I'm loving this tri-z build , I'm a former motorcycle mechanic myself , it seems a little down on power . I willing to bet it's that DG exhaust system. They were the absolute worst exhaust system i ever delt with and made poor power , if only pro circuit or fmf made a system.Prolly the only system you can get your hands on. Try finding a better pipe and it's gonna wake that thing up. Maybe even a custom setup, that has more top end 250 2 stroke should be really hard to keep the front end down lol . Kudos you Mike it really is so clean and amazing keep the videos coming

Awesome stuff Mike, it's nice to see you finally got to rip on it and the old school guys reminiscing about it. My brothers and I all grew up riding three wheelers, that's how we learned how to drive atv's in general. But we never got to ride on something like a Tri-Z or ATC 250R. My father had a Honda ATC 185S and my grandfather had a little Kawasaki. They never saw the point in having something that went fast. Either way they were still fun and they still got you in trouble. :)

Well, I see the 250R is there, so you got it done! I can't WAIT to see the 380 engine build! Rolled it?! Aiee! Anything hurt? So much for my theory of the carb possibly being too big! Second gear digs in sand are very hard for a 250, even a strong one. My Dad had to regear my 500 when he went to Silver Lake, so it's not uncommon to regear. Sand I see is kinda like water. If you are gonna make a hard dig from a stop, you need torque. If you wanna go fast, you gotta plane up, gotta keep that wheel speed up. Probably why I don't like sand. I think it came out well! Very good! So, is the Tri-Z gonna be a permentant resident there? Do I remember correctly that it has a softer carb spring in it?
@SportbikerNZ
11 ай бұрын
That size carb size was a recommended mod for the tri-z. It wasn't in doubt that'd be too big as it was a result of research, not an experiment. Kinda funny when peeps assume stuff won't work without doing their own research. He mentioned in the vid that nothing was hurt rolling it, except the scuffed front mudguard plastic.

When you're riding in the dunes usually the softest lightest fluffiest sand makes its way out into the trails in the woods the wind can move the soft and the fluffy sand easier than the more dense coarse sand

I grew up going to the sand dunes with my Dad and Uncles. My Uncles Robert and Tom road 250R three wheelers and they were fearless on those things. I guess Robert qualified for the Seattle Supercross when he was 19 and did pretty good. I always respected the hell out of them for riding those bikes, they are pretty gnarly to ride. My Uncle Tom has a picture in his shop jumping over his buddies in the dunes and hes literally about 40 feet off of the ground clearing the sand dune lol That Tri-Z is awesome and it sounds like it rips pretty good. I always enjoy your riding and build videos. Thanks for sharing and be safe out there!

I think the best part about riding a 3 wheeler has to be the looks people give when you roll up on one. You just climb a knarly hill and roll up on a group of riders just chillin', and they all have that look of, "kids, don't screw with that guy, he's crazy." Happens every time I take my 350x out.
