As someone who rides both fairly often, I can say there are clear differences in power delivery. The WR has a slight hesitation when you crack open the throttle, then you get the power, which is slightly tamer in comparison with the YZ. This is makes the WR much friendlier off-road in tight trails. In the YZ, there is no slight pause when you open the throttle, you get a big jerk and push forward right away, and accelerates much faster than the WR. Because of this instant power and jerky nature, I find the YZ very tiring when ridden slowly in the tight stuff because this bike simply wants to fly everywhere and it takes effort to keep a smooth throttle delivery. However, the YZ is HOOLIGANISH FUN to ride fast in the open! Which is is what it was built for. Personally, I much prefer the WR because of the more chill (slightly) engine that is much more comfortable to ride in all situations.

I love watching thees single track videos and it seems you go pretty fast with confidence on this bike :) Here in Norway it is almost no places you can ride like this legally on a motorcycle but luckily last year they made it legal to ride electric bicycle pretty much anywhere so I get my urge for single track satisfied by riding a fully damped electric assisted mountain bicycle. That is part of the reason I did buy a KTM 500 EXC f as I can only ride it legally on dirt roads so I opted for more raw torque power instead of maneuverability :) But It would have been fun to have a 250 4T or 2T to play with also.

Vegas RoManiac what about the weight issue. On paper, the wr looks real heavy, though extremely well equipped. They had an 18 wr sitting next to some 18 ktm xc's. Big mistake at the dealership. The wr has a sky high seat height and took considerable effort just to lift of the side stand to sit on. On the plus side the wr was 2500 cheaper than the 4t ktm, though even with the 300 xc. Of corsres the xc is without the propper offroad gaurds....
@vegasromaniac
6 жыл бұрын
markmtbrider the yz and wr weight almost the same, I don't feel one heavier Than the other. I wound live to try a kmt 250xcf to test again the bike, only think I can think of is that the yz design is years ahead of the Ktm, the tank is under the sitz the inverted piston is shifter to the back, the pipe is out of the way and the air filter where they put it, if you ride alone you will never have to clean it, the front wheel doesn't have time to loft the dust in the filter., the bike is Bible and brilliant, but I still haven't tested a 250xcf so I can't say 100 percent.

@@vegasromaniac I hear you. I think you got lucky to find one for that low of a price. I look a lot. To go used I get into the differences between the years. What's the oldest WR250F you would buy? What's the oldest YZ250F you'd buy? Also, I think I'm reading the 2019 is a BIG model change year. Do you know if this is true? But honestly the only feature that comes to mind is that the new ones feel thinner on the sides, near the tank. But I'm 6-5, so a little bit thinner bike might not mean that much to me.
