These saxes are amazing. Will be a sought out horn in 30 years. They are as good as their top end horns honestly just different tone. Outplays any mark 6.

Don't know what it is....Just heard a few demos of the Yamaha 62/82Z...VS a Selmer MK6. Always sound "harsher/bright". This W01 doesn't have that. Interesting. Both JP horn companies. Two different sounds...I hear. Still prefer the Keilwerth MKX or SX90. Yana's a close 2nd...as far as brands go...in alto/tenor...no matter what mouthpice/reed was used and who was playing.

If you hear more difference in the brass vs bronze on this updated model, are you saying brass and bronze are started to sound similar or just that the brass is improved?

Miller Sax King depends on what style of music you like to play. You can't go wrong with the selmer Paris range and I'm hearing all good things about the relatively new brand cannonball. If you want to get a bit more from your yanagisawa try a bronze neck or get yourself a new mouthpiece. Even a new ligature Will affect your sound. Good luck in any case

The tone lacks complexity. No sparks, no shimmer, no subtle overtones, nothing to grab onto and make a good and delicious music meal out of it. Overall it sounds like eating a good old carrot soup with nothing to add on.

It’s his style or the recording I just got one and it’s noice. Honestly reed and mouthpieces make a huge difference as well. When I first picked it up it was dull but as I’m a tinkerer I tried like 6 mouthpieces and it sounded great on the fifth one. Then I tried the yanigisawa mouthpiece designed for that horn with a DBonade ligature and it screamed yet could tuck a baby in. These horns are fantastic and with the right reed and mouthpiece combo they scream. By far the easiest playing horn I’ve found or it could just be they stepped it up these last couple of years as they can’t produce their elite horns due to gold and other metal prices. Half of it is who and how the horn is setup. Usually they put more effort into their elite horns but since their 10 is one of the top end elite horns being made as they can’t make the ones with fancy metals these get all the attention. I say try it yourself. But hey someone else played it before me and sucked on it and then sounded great on a 82z then I tried them both and sucked on the 82z but drew a crowd on the yani.
