Awesome.. thanks for sharing... the 2nd practitioner performing the VERY LOW set is amazing. Its great to get to see the original intention and training methods/forms pre Yang Chengfu.. Many of these advanced training sets Im sure still exist in the Yang "family" style but unfortunately they are not even demonstrated to modern taiji quan students. From my experience they are often alluded too in discussion only... yet never seen --- hiding the "true" martial training will ultimately kill off YCF taiji "quan" IMO...

What makes you think this form is pre-Yang Chenfu. Ban Hou was Chenfu's second son. Would not he perform what his father taught him and possible alter it some? Ban Hou was also steeped in Wushu.

@@falungongboy No he wasn't. You're thinking of Yang Lu Chan. YCF's grand father.

I am a mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer in Canada, I have learned Yang's 85 from Tai Chi, sword and Chen's Tai Chi (for beginner) more than 10 years; however, beside the 85 from & 楊氏太極推手. It's hard to find much information about traditional 楊氏太極. Thank you for sharing.

Were Yang Ban Hou and Yang Shao Hou addicted to too many drugs?

maybe you should focus on increasing your kung fu instead of such useless questions not related to training, or development of skills . ijs i don't see how the answer one way or another could benefit you in anyway .

Talking about great men of the past and their lives benefits me because I enjoy it. They might be long gone from this world, but finding out as much as I can about them inspires me and my practice. Of course my main concern is my own life and this moment; to be otherwise would be foolishness. But to be going around with a miserable face on focused only on serious practice 24/7 is not my way.

i understand your answer. Yet, wonder why that particular question was of such interest to you. it's like when student ask questions about stuff that won't help their training, and actually work against them . i too have always been interested in their lives. but my focus has always been what in their lives can help me understand their kung fu better, and maybe increase my kung fu as well. not many folks in these times are so stoic or miserable whether they practice is bitter or not . so, you are like the majority i would say, to include myself. xie xie

i have never heard they did any. cheng fu was reputed to live wildly in south china till dad came and took him home and locked him in a room till he was a master. there was often overlap between martial arts and the triads, so your question is hardly stupid, irrelevant or unworthy. and yes, it won't help practice lol. I think what they may have been addicted to was the yang/macho side of power. or perhaps wrestled with it is better way to phrase. they both had harsher nature in most tales. perhaps they over trained, did not love enough. we can't really be sure at such a remove. TY Pang who I got to live on Orcas Island with in 90's felt Yang Chien Huo alone of later YAngs in 2/3rd gen had the right attitude as we see in his benign, even beatific smile. he was the least martial as well. So....

@@davidryan7386 I've heard others say similar about Yang Jianhou and as much as I'm interested in all the early Yangs, he's the one I'm most drawn to. He also lived the longest. I'm not sure what happened to Yang Banhou but apparently Yang Shaohou committed suicide.
