Verdugo has been "hot" because he had a few bloop singles. He has not hit the ball very hard in this recent stretch - one extra-base hit in his last nine games, and three in his last 24. And in any case, do you base your decisions off one week, or the previous four months?? It's called sampling, and these analytics nuts ought to know that. Finally, MK saying you don't bring up Dominguez unless you can guarantee that he hits .330 is absurd. Verdugo is a good ballplayer, esp. in LF, but not a difference maker. Dominguez can be that additional bat in the lineup that they desperately need. He has upside, Verdugo doesn't.

He's hitting .232 over the past 2 weeks and .226 over the past MONTH. This is not Aaron Judge when he's hot. Is Verdugo better than he was a month ago? Absolutely yes. Blah, blah, blah. Verdugo should have been benched because that's how underperforming stars become stars, sometimes. You also get Juan a day off here and there as the season winds down, but most importantly you light fires under the arses of underperformers. Brian is basically sticking with a loser because when it's on the line he has the ability to stay alive. Staying alive is not what wins championships. Coddling is what Brian does, and it's why the Yankees will not win a world series whilst he is the GM of that team. And talent will come here and do nothing but die on the vine because coddling doesn't work. Maybe I think I'm a know it all like MK says, but what I've been saying for years is never anything but proven at the end of every season.
