What linkage and what does it look like where does it go?

there was a linkage that was bent inside the pump causing the run away. A blocked return line would not have allowed the engine to run.

The return line for access diesel may be blocked, causing the diesel to accumulate in the injectors.

The injector pump was in the wrong position, opening the (turning) the bore to full. Flipping them 180, and resetting would clear that

If that engine is set up for generator duties it's governor would be trying to maintain speed at 1500 RPM which is probably why it dies as you head to 1700. Then maybe something in the governor goes past it's limit and causes the runaway

This happened several years ago. Problem was broken governor. Sent injection off for repair.

Hello Yellow Boat, I have the same problem. Did you solve the problem? The solonoid is ok. It looks like the flat valve on the injection pump is stuck or is pushing too hard. The engine takes some time to stop and it has already happened that it did not stop completely and had to cut the diesel. Did you manage to solve the problem? Thank you very much.

apparamment , je suis le seul qui a eu un probleme avec l'ordi, les switch de relais, et la pompe d'injection en meme temps, vous en pensez quoi, je pense que Yanmar pourrait mettre ses culottes, ce n'est pas le cas, c'est tres chip et encore chip, Jean-Guy.

jeff lewis The rack in the pump was bent. The injection pump place replaced the rack linkage and fixed it.

That's a Yanmar 4TN series engine. there are a handful of different bore sizes, this is most likely a 4TN82 - 4TN84 - 4TN86. I put one of these in a 3rd gen firebird, works great

Sometimes it has a letter in it like 4TNE86. The 4TNV is the newer version that came after this. Mainly emissions focused changes, in my opinion those aren't "as good"

@@RickBaconsAdventures do you know the difference in the 4tne 84 and 4tne88 are the blocks the same other than the bore will the crank work out of one in the other and the head bolt on each other

@@bobbyhorn7059 I haven't gotten my hands on an 88 yet. I have been wondering the same questions for 7 years. I believe the 84 or 86 might be the biggest before *something* changes. my 82 block has 78 cast into the outside. If you used a crank with a longer stroke you'd have to find rods or pistons that made up for the length. I have wondered about the heads too. I don't know for sure but I think the 88 is at least somewhat different. I have noticed that the valve covers look different on the bigger ones. I'd love to get my hands on a 4TN106 to put in another firebird but do some work to the engine and get it making pretty good power.
