First time I've ever heard Yao Ming speaking. Pleasant, very pleasant.

Yao was a hell of a player. It's a shame his career was cut short by injuries. Could you imagine him in today's NBA? Holy crap.

I remember how they advertised the show down between Shaq and Yao on TV when Yao was a rookie. Shaq was going to teach Yao with Shaq Fu but then he got blocked 3 times in a row. Kobe, the usual ball hog, knew it was serious and kept feeding to Shaq. Yao length forced Shaq to go all power mode, knocking Yao off balance to dunk on Yao. Rookie Yao was fearless and wanted to go right back at Shaq so Mobley and Francis fed Yao and Yao scored on Shaq. That was epic basketball, two giants fighting it out in the post. Shaq won that battle but as time went by, they were more evenly matched

Funny how Shaq loves a no championship, no MVP, no 6th Man winning, career shortened Yao Ming, but hates Bill Walton. It must have killed him to see Big Red up on the stage

I love Walton but he had 1.5 great seasons and a nice swan song season. No way he should be in the Pro Hall of Fame. Best college player maybe ever shouldn’t “ transfer” to the pros.

What’s with the put down on Yao Ming? Just because he didn’t win an individual award in the NBA doesn’t mean you got to hate the guy and put him down. If Shaq doesn’t like Bill Walton but likes Yao Ming that’s his own reason and if you have a problem with it why don’t you go find Shaq and ask him yourself instead of putting Yao Ming’s name into that issue. You got some weird beef with Yao Ming for no reason other than being friends with Shaq.

I always got the feeling that Shaq just doesn’t like non-championship winning players being tossed around in the top-10/20/50/etc… conversations Nowadays there are seemingly a TON of great players; (almost) every team has a proper star now as opposed to just being the best on a mediocre team, so as the league gets better and better player caliber in the coming decades, it’ll be harder to base greatness solely on rings Shaq has no issue saying if someone was really good, great, or all-time. I don’t recall him saying that only players with rings should be in the HOF, because there are a LOT of bench players that could then flash some gold and push for entry… Example… does Chuck deserve to be in the HOF? I’d say so, even without that hardware… but part of being considered one of the ~greatest to do it~, you should at least have something to show for it, either championships or being at least near the top in terms of performance for your position There’s a lot that should go into each consideration (HOF and/or Best)

The best part of this speech was when he should not have been the first speaker. Allen Iverson should have been give the honor, Yao said, "because I need more practice" in English.

Yes, the all-knowing David Stern was chasing the NBA all the way to China, eyeing a possible 1.4 billion potential new fans. It was forgone conclusion that Yao would make it in. To balance that he did block Shaq three times in a row and that got everyone's attention, including Shaq's.

The league was all about Yao back when he played. It’s cool imo, forget about nba chasing Chinese money, which they surely were, but to give Chinese basketball fans a huge role model in NBA is pretty cool on its own merit as well

First learn something about basketball, the NBA, what it takes to make the Hall of Fame, and then try again. If that doesn't do it you probably can't spell duh if spotted the d and the u.
