I like the Mercury Grand Marquis. They are frequently owned by an old person who doesn't drive it hard and has the dealership do all the work on it- no wannabe mechanics messing things up. I bought six or seven over the years, usually 10-15 years old for around a grand each. I bought 'em cheap for each of my kids to drive. Tough, safe, well-made vehicles.

Yup, 2001 model year on the one you showed the VIN number for with the VIN for the win: 2ME for Canadian made Mercury passenger car, F for dual airbags and manual seat belts, M75 for Grand Marquis LS, W for 4.6L V8, 1 is a check digit, 1 for the 2001 model year, X for St. Thomas, Ontario Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The St. Thomas plant operated from 1967 to 2011. With the tag, you can brag: AQ for Arizona Beige exterior paint, H for AM-FM stereo cassette radio, BH for tan cloth interior trim, C8 for 2.73:1 non-locking rear end ratio, H for 4R70W four speed automatic overdrive transmission, 3 for ABS brakes with traction control, among other codes. The white one is also a Grand Marquis LS, but is a 2000 model year. Should be code 4PA Oxford White exterior paint. Gray/green one is also a model year 2000 and is code FS Spruce Green Metallic exterior paint. Nope, the blue one is a 1992 model year because the 10th digit of the VIN is an "N" for the 1992 model year. A 1993 model year would be a "P" for the 10th digit. It is code ME Medium Blue Regatta Metallic exterior paint.

I have a 1995 Grand Marquis, with almost 345,000 miles, still runs like new. I am having trouble finding parts for it. I am interested in the Monarch

Too bad the LTD version of the Crown Victoria is so rare. The last time I saw one in person was probably 15 years ago.
