The YardMax mower seen here is TERRIBLE> Mine was very slow. I bought the Front-Wheel Drive version. Even on its highest setting, the mower was still slow. What normally took me 3.5 hours to mow in my large 2 acre yard took me SIX hours to mow with this YardMax 2860 FWD. The only part that was "fast" was the way the crazy wheels went CRAZY on EVERY TIME the wheels touched the ground. Every times the wheels touched the ground, the entire mower started JUMPING and VIBRATING all over the place! That was not an example of "Speed." It was simply an example of poorly designed engineering that prevents the mower from remaining in place while the wheels are moving. Also, the mower simply cannot be mowed backwards. The black rubber component gets tangled up in the mower in a way that prevents the wheels from being used. I was forced drag this heavy mower backwards without the wheels! This mower started on the second pull the very first time I used the mower. But the mower took EIGHT PULLS after just a half hour. Some of the pulls were virtually impossible! And I am 6' 3" 300 pounds! The engine was clearly "locked" somehow. The mower was also plugged. I originally had it set to shoot out the side. But this mower that claims to be a "powerful 201cc" is actually very weak. The mower was clogged within 30 minutes. After that left the side distribution part attached, but nothing was ever shot out the side. The mower was essentially just a "mulcher" at that point, but the mulching feature was TERRIBLE. I do NOT recommend this mower!

Starting pull out rope has to be looped around the eye on the right handle.

Lemme tell ya something. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING CALLED YARDMAX! Chinese junk! I bought a ‘22 around 5-15-23 and used it only about 5-6 times. It is made with extremely cheap components. The plastic knobs for closing and locking the handle broke off. The height adjustment broke off. The front wheel broke as I was using it and the axle came out off place. The plastic for the undercarriage cracked in two requiring its complete removal. That cover the belt and pulleys for the self propel assembly. Needles to say, that can no longer by used. Surprising no engine issues (yet) and it will cut serious grass-provided you have patching up skills. THIS POS IS CHEAP FOR A REASON AND YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!

Well I tell ya, you've got to test these things out before you buy them, I whipped my pecker out and I slapped it up against the engine. Then I slapped my pecker up against the handlebars and the plastic adjusting knobs. Then I slapped my pecker up against the mower deck, and the mower held up just fine , The only problem I had Is when I Started the mower up and put my pecker up under the deck to test the blade out, my pecker bent and dulled the crap out of that blade.

Well said. YardMax is TERRIBLE! I bought this thing because Consumer Reports said it was their best mower of the year. I now see Consumer Reports is paid off by companies making junk. But on the other hand, just look at all the terrible reviews of all the poorly made mowers from Troy-Built, Honda, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Toro, and other mowers that previously were built well. You now see the 2024 models are GARBAGE! So, perhaps YardMax was the best for 2024. I decided I'm going to try to find a decent "Used" mower, because ALL the 2024 models from ALL the manufacturers are GARBAGE!

@@donmilland7606 if the connector prong for the rear chute broke off, that is actually a good thing. I bought the 2860 FWD version, and the rear chute gets stuck under the mower when you try to pull the mower backwards. As a result, the wheels are not smooth. It is as if you are pulling the mower while the mower is stuck gliding on that black component. The mower weighs nearly 100 pounds, so that is simply not possible. I needed to return this mower.
