Danke für diese wunderbare Version des Liedes. Das ist ein guter Beitrag, um das Niveau von KZitem hoch zu halten.

Can I have the Tabs for your version of the song?
@gaconnochie
13 жыл бұрын
@Acramveh That is true. Burn's version is more anti-conflict than being the definite pro-hanovarian tone of the original but even the words to the Burns version are quite direct in stating "ye Jacobites by name, your faults I will proclaim, your doctrines I will blame" which of course is the words anglicised for foreign readers.

Hello Annie, Ich begrüße dich vom Zentrale Frankreich. Das ist mein vorgezogen Lied, schöne Harmonie der Stimme und der Gitarre, leider begreife ich nicht Englisch. Auf bald mit youtube. A + Claude.

@Frillar I think you got it wrong. The original version was an anti jacobite song. Robert Burns was sympathetic to the jacobite cause. He did not support them, but he did not hate them or think they were stupid either. His version is just an anti war song and more of a warning to jacobites not to rise up again when the french did. And their war was not with England but with the monarchy They fought the British army and the Dutch royal family the house of hanover

Lovely rendering of a great song, though a bit short...! :-( Just two bits: I'd say "saurd" (for sword) and "afar" (not "afair") -- though I'm happy to be corrected by anyone whose Scots is better than mine

@Acramveh Fair enough. But the comment you left is describing what the song is about When it just is'nt about that. That may be the opinion you have, but it's not what the song is about. Thats kinda like me leaving a comment on give peace a chance. And saying, it's about how war is always the answer.

@Acramveh well how was the aftermath their fault? They did not go about banning shit or killing people loyal to the stewarts. The aftermath was all the British governments doing. Yeah there was suffering during the wars but when is'nt there? At the end of the day, the jacobites didn't go to war just for fun or something to do. They believed in a cause enough to fight and die for it. Be it right or wrong, agree or disagree. They fought for their belief and I commend that
