Yes is a Box, a magic box or....an empty box , the generations give to this box new meanings. My generation gave in 70's the most powerful impulse to the best prog music ever heard , a group of 5 sacred musicians still lives in many supporters in the world.

Look at all those gorgeous Roger Dean paintings! It goes to show how important Roger's otherworldly covers contributed to the overall Yes mythos. What a huge body of work Roger Dean has done over the decades with Yes and Asia. Asia's album covers are even better than Yes' covers but of course that is all subjective. The song is quite lovely as well.

@triarii11
2 жыл бұрын
Yea, no kidding. A genuine whistle-able melody is just absent from Arc of Life, yet I know from examples that Sherwood and Davison can write one. Then, 'The Quest' has that same odd cross-music singing structuring. It's as if each exacerbates the worse melody instincts of the other. Bad explanation of some ... thing... I hear and can't explain well.

Makes me miss Chris aka greatest bass player ever born EVER ! His joy of playing and his body in synch with his neural networks and hands and frequencies so hearable like down to 22 Hz. I followed most of the shows that came to my area, drove 200 miles once to see YES. The last show I saw was at Mud Island Amphitheater in Memphis TN. Took all our kids. I think the tickets cost us almost $800.oo.and we spent another $200.oo on merch and beer and soft drinks. ha. I have to tell this part of the story here. I saw a Black 20 something man all alone in line, I thought wow I'm glad he is there and representing! We found our row close to front got settled in . I look up and the fella's seat was next to me. We had a blast it was his first ever Yes concert and I asked him how he had come to love Yes. He was a music major (I have a piano degree husband percussion, kids all play, one heavily influence by Chris) and he heard someone playing top. Oceans and that was all it took, he was amazed at the music spirituality and so when you told about loving Memphis R&B, Elvis and Rock N Roll, I thought he was going to cry.He was the only Black man in the entire audience. I'll never forget that. Great video and new tune11 I still put Yes on and crank it up and play all the keyboards in Rick Wakman style. Rocked all my babies to YES music. Thank you for your life work!

Chris was the man, but if you hear the lastest Yes studio albums with him, you also didn't have the same Chris Squire from the seventies. What you can say about Heaven & Earth? This album have Mr. Squire arround the compositions but you barely can hear any creative bass lines or his classic "metalic" and huge tone up front.

Better than I thought it'd be. First thought was actually it could be an ambitious Noel Gallagher acoustic number. Next thought was that more completely it seems rather close to middle era Porcupine Tree circa In Absentias acoustic moments. A Steve Wilson vibe. And in itself not bad in it's own way. Ancient melodies of the future as Built To Spill once said.

Beautiful video indeed. A great tribute to Roger Dean. I think the song is lacking of a certain arc of tension. The frequent use of repeating short lyrical expressions as a stylistic device is a bit pushy throughout the whole album. But on the other hand, I'm sure, I have to listen to the new songs a few more times to be able to appreciate them.
