"Sound Chaser" from their album Relayer. According to the lead vocalist and lyricist Jon Anderson, Yes was very inspired by the jazzrockband Mahavishnu Orchestra at the time (1974). Steve Howe on the guitars and Patrick Moraz on the keyboards, Chris Squire on the bass guitars and backing vocals, Alan White on drums/percussion.

Steve Hackett and Phil were also inspired by Mahavishnu when recording Selling England by the Pound

I still clearly remember seeing Yes play Sound Chaser live in 1976.I was 12 years old and I became a lifelong Yes fan!

I saw it the same year in Virginia. I was 18. I had no idea what I was in for. I'd only heard Roundabout at that point.

With this music YES did the impossible, ie, they "resolved" the following paradox :making an harmonious cacophony.

Not much contrast between these two songs ;-) Interesting choices to put together. This was the thing about Yes. They went wherever the inspiration took them. Contrasts and dynamics, within songs and between them.

Excellent reaction. I've heard every note a thousand times and you both reacted positively to all the moments that I was anticipating. I think regular meditation clears the mind to assimilate new experiences, even musical ones.

Reaction1: My favorite album of all time... I love your reaction and response! That song is 9 minutes of fire! Reaction 2: Jon Anderson's angelic voice with Wakman's amazing harpsichord and Howe's light guitar work. Very renaissance era sounding loveliness...

@kevin mcconnell I agree that it’s not their best but it is their most iconic and gets many people who have never heard of Yes interested enough to delve into the extensive catalogue.

Great song and great review! It's always exciting to see people hear an album for the first time that I bought when it first came out. Brings back memories of my first impressions.

Just seeing that you folks are reviewing this makes me nervous. It isn't for everyone, but they really pushed their boundaries and skill on this one. One of my faves.

The song following Sound Chaser is called To Be Over. I like it better, to be honest.

Time for you to listen to Yes’s most famous song, Roundabout. From the same album,Fragile, you also need to hear Heart of the Sunrise and, also, a short song, Long Distance Runaround.
