The history is even more amusing, in that Jon Anderson learned about that footnote from a talk with Jamie Muir (eccentric King Crimson percussionist) that took place at Bill Bruford's wedding reception.

IT'S AS IF YOURE FLYING ABOVE THE HIMALAYAN MOUNTAINS AND NOT SEE THE BEAUTY.I am so sorry that some cannot see the incredible beauty of the deeply moving adventure through life, space, time, and consciousness this album, inspired by 4 Shastras. For those who feel it, it's quite a sonic journey. ROCK FANS! TIt was not created aspiring to appeal to a generic music commercial fan base. This is a multi-faceted, multi-genre- multi-sensory journey into an extremely well composed. It is classical music for modern times. Those who hate TALES are probably those who could not name one classical album or cant even sit through an epic 3 1/2 hour movie in one sitting. TALES is brilliant. I could go line for line and describe why each part of TALES is magnificent

I really appreciate how you included the entirety of Steve’s intro solo on Revealing Science of God, beautiful solo. This song and Ritual are superb but Remembering and the Ancient meander a bit imo, love the Leaves of Green part of the Ancient though. Some of Steve’s best guitar playing is on Revealing Science and Ritual.

Cool, looking forward to checking this out! Yes is actually a band I'm pretty unfamiliar with overall, (surprisingly, considering how much I love rock music of all types!) but this piques my interest to hear more! Hope you've been enjoying the John Martyn if you've checked out any more of his stuff yet. Have a good one!

thanks Brad L! there's alot to discover from Yes, I find that their golden age is 1971-1977 you really cant go wrong with any album in that period! I haven't heard any more John Martyn as of yet but I definitely will. Usually I listen to 2 new albums per week and really get into them during that week, so one week a john martyn album is definitely gonna be one of those 2 albums

@@TheFloydios Cool, thanks!! By the way, to counter what another commenter wrote, I just wanted to say, I love the long reviews! They let me really immerse myself in the album and your thoughts about it, with the song samples included. I enjoy your reviews way more than most KZitem music reviews, exactly for that reason, in fact! Because unlike most reviews, yours provides all the context for your opinions about the songs and albums, and even the samples so I can listen and see if I agree. It's a really creative way to do it, and it's why you're the music reviewer I listen to most frequently now! So, thanks for your great work, and I hope you won't be shortening the reviews, because from my perspective, the long ones are a really immersive experience and I enjoy them a lot!!

@@bradL10000 wow thank you so much, I really appreciate that! No worries I have no intention of shortening the reviews, I don't consciously make them long either. I just film them and then later when i edit the sections together I go "holy crap i didn't realize this was gonna be 50 mins lol". I'm so glad you enjoy the format and consider it an immersive experience, and I really appreciate you watching. The only thing I'm going to have to change going forward is the song segments. unfortunately I'm noticing that because of the song segments videos are being blocked in certain countries. I would love to continue doing the song segments because it gives you a little taste of what its all about, but because of the copyright bullshit I can't do it going forward. Thanks again

@@joeyd6702 Ya vocally its never gonna be the same without Jon, but musically its fantastic. That opening track Machine Messiah is legendary. Ya Tormato, now that's an interesting album. I absolutely love some of the songs on it: future times, madrigal, don't kill the whale, onward, and on the silent wings of freedom are all top notch . Sadly I cant really stand many of the other songs. Release release is just all over the place, arriving ufo is almost unlistenable for me and circus of heaven is just too sugary sweet for me. But I definitely feel like its an underrated album, the good definitely outweighs the bad

I love this album. I can understand the criticism a little bit, but not much. I find all 4 tracks to be great. It doesn't bother me that they 'padded the music' (their words) to fit the album side. I think it worked. Heck, I would've liked them to create a quadruple album next with 4 pieces of music, 1/album 😎

Good review. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and dedication. But i can suggest to shorten a bit your videos. The most watched reviews are usually 20/30 minutes. Maybe 40 minutes can be perfect in your style.
@TheFloydios
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the constructive criticism man! I try to make my videos more all encompassing that just the review, I put the table of contents in the description for people who like to skip the "history" segment and just watch the review which is usually only 10-20 mins of the video. then i go off into the track by track discussions which are more for the hardcore fans who really want an in depth walk-through of each song, maybe to highlight certain things in particular that i like. When I watched reviews of albums I really loved I always wanted to see more in terms of the individual songs, so I decided to do a big segment in my reviews dedicated to that. That being said, I know alot of people just want a quick 10 min review as well so I do that as well earlier on in the video. I certainly don't expect everyone to watch the whole thing, which is why I do the table of contents in the description for people to skip to parts they're interested in! Thanks again

@@TheFloydios Yeah i noticed the minute sections later. It's your call. Anyway about the album, i agree most of what you said. Tales is not pretentious album, maybe egotistical, but not pretentious. Jon Anderson is just himself with his hippy hindu stuff. The problem is that the songs are just unnecessary extended and therefore repetitive, as you said. It's such a shame cause The Revealing science of God is realy good track. Wakeman's synths in 3:30 minute is one best "euphoric" musical moments that i ever head in prog music. It gaved me feeling that i just discovored magic 'science" or something like that. In fact when the same synths fade out in the end of 11:00 minute it sounded like a exellent ending. But no, it has to drag to 22 minutes like unnecessary coda. Same thing to the other songs. If they were cut to half or one third, it could have been much beeter record. I think if there were CDies in the 1970s it could be a 60 minute album. But back then you can make either a 40/45 minutes LP or 70/80 minutes double LP. .
