I can’t believe I heard that from Tim! I’m so proud that you’re able to stand up for what you believe. I thought your clothing was whimsical and fun! I wish we had more of this out there. Everything is a square and as a plus size woman it’s so hard to express yourself. I wish you still made your clothes. I wish you were in Canada! I bought a jacket from Addition Elle when it was still open from Jessica Biffi. I still have that jacket. Wish people would just stop caring how others look. It’s none of their business. Love you Ashley!

I think you have to hear the whole interview and not play snippets of that one part of the conversation. Because just before that Tim is actually saying that he thinks it’s despicable that we (plus size) have to go to special stores to get sizes over 14. When it comes to his comments about Ashley winning project runway, I think it just came down to his taste, and what he thinks should’ve won. Listening to him in that interview, it sounded like he didn’t think three out of the four top contestants belonged there. I’ve watched all seasons, and Tim does have very conservative taste. I love your clothes and your style, Ashley. Everything you did made me smile. But that just wasn’t his taste. And I think he was just accusing the show of trying to be “politically correct“ and not calling you the winner because they actually thought your clothes were good, but because they wanted to send a message. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that you were the right one to win. I’m glad you did. I think a lot of the stuff he said was taken out of context. What he was talking about with Nina. I think he was being sarcastic. Like Nina’s saying that you were “so brave“. I think when he was saying “so brave to leave the house?“. I think it was said in sarcasm. I hope I’m explaining this right. Then again, you said something about the way he treated you behind the scenes, and I’m not sure about all that. I’m sorry if he treated you mean. But as far as this interview and conversation, what I got from it was that he definitely is on the side of inclusion . I think you’re great, and I’m actually thinking of signing up for a sewing class! Edit: here’s the full interview. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kpqqxXycpIh2f4Y @4:46 is where he starts talking about how the fashion industry should be more inclusive and there shouldn’t be categories like regular sizes and plus sizes. At least this is my opinion of what he meant.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am so surprised by Tim’s comments. It seemed so thoughtless and hurtful. I will think of this next time I hear a hurtful option coming my way. I don’t need to say yes to it. We loved your designs and still do. Thanks again for sharing your journey.

Your collection was a celebration of different body types of feeling great, confident and have fun with the clothes and celebrate the curves that everyone have. Your message that you wanted to achieve on the show was translated in that collection and you totally deserved that win, that was my favorite collection. What Tim did was really disrespectful to your work and judgemental of you personally and the is so wrong instead of being encouraging of you and your work and wishing you the best on your personal life and mental health he decided just to be hurtful and dismissive. Love you Ashley wish you the best. You are a role model.

is accusing Tim of not wanting to see fat people's bodies more of a defense mechanism? Tim was excited about having diverse body types, he was fully supportive of it. There's no reason to believe he wouldn't have the same critiques if only thin models were used on the runway... i feel like you're reading into his comments and trying to find something that isn't there. Maybe it's really that simple that he just doesn't like the clothes regardless of what kind of model is wearing them. I think it would be healthier just to accept that rather than make it seem like Tim is fat-shaming

I was so happy to see your season of Project Runway, you were my favorite since episode one. I cheered you on ALL season. I was over the moon you had won. I was also happy to have met you at Drag Con, you are a hero. Also you were a pioneer at the time, after you won I started seeing more plus size inclusion in fashion. I'm disappointed in Tim and its a real shame that he thinks that way. I continue to root for you and wear your ANT t shirt.

I’m so disappointed, I have been a fan of Tim since project runway come on! I am so disillusioned by his comments ! I loved loved your clothes. I have never been confident enough to wear a Mid drift. Until I saw your line and how beautiful and confident The models looked and I have never ever got so many compliments! How can he be such a bully. It breaks my heart ! I’m 45 yrs old and have worn a mid drift for 5 yrs ! I want to send you a picture of it !! You represent our cultura ! So beautifully and how you celebrated every woman’s body! So proud of you and I WILL NEVER EVER SEE HIM THE SAME AGAIN ! mucho amor mujer mágica !

I just watched your season on Project Runway! Congratulations! First of all thank you for going on the show. It takes so much courage to put yourself out there. Even more courage is needed when you are plus size. Tim missed the whole point. Have fun, wear the color, the body is beautiful in all sizes. Tim is from traditional fashion and about an illusion, hiding imperfections and trying to look tall and svelte. Thank you for something different!

I love what you have designed Ashley - but the pieces are for other people to wear and not for me. Modesty is something I am proud of - I do NOT need to wear a crop top. The message that I send to all people through my choice of clothes is completely my business. I dress modestly to send the message that I am so much more than a sex object.

Oh my word! Tim Gunn you need to think about how it feels when ppl speak out against your own community! This is very eye opening and people need to work on embracing ppl for who they are rather than who you want them to be. Tim Gunn sounds like he was vomiting his own insecurities.

Ashley, I LOVE YOU!❤ You are a Queen, who in the face of the "b#$@h fest" (as Kelly Osborne called it) & now Tim Gunn's toxic words (which I'm only just hearing today), rose above & carried on! 👑 You are a brave, kind, & supremely talented visionary! It's always those who go out there 1st to shine their Light that get dumped on. And you are the only winner of Project Runway who made me weep tears of joy from the start to the end of your glorious show at Fashion Week!😅 In fact, I'm re-watching that season right now. My blood still boils over how you were treated then by your fellow contestants--so cruel! Jealous, catty witches...but the vituperative Machine Gunn himself makes that coven look like a bunch of amateurs! Shame on Tim--who ironically spoke of being bullied in his youth during that same podcast in which he trashed you & so many others. Sigh, he's older but no wiser. He's using his fame as a lethal weapon by attempting to take down others instead of lifting people up! But, my dear Ashley, unlike Tim, you kept your heart open & healed from the wounding you experienced...& you just keep on thriving which is always the best revenge! You look amazing, too! Congrats on losing so much weight, getting into therapy, & helping others by being unapologetically real & honest! You inspire me sooo much! I love that you live in San Diego. I'm in Encinitas. Maybe one day we'll bump into each other! Anyway, I wish you all the best life has to offer. You deserve it! Keep speaking your Truth & shining your Light! 🧡💚💛💜💙

Oh Ashley, This is so shocking and yet not surprising at the same time. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. The one thing I keep wondering is when you were so upset at times during the season, and talking about how you were treated by the other designers were you also thinking about how you were treated by Tim? I think of now in 2022, how groundbreaking your designs were! when I think about artists like Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion speaking to body positivity in their work and fashion today. I’m glad you are fierce

My takeaway from Tim’s comments is that he really doesn’t like the judges. I think Ashley was just collateral damage as he trash talked Nina and the others, but I’ve lost a ton of respect for the man who presents himself as such a good guy. As for winning, it was a close call between Ashley and Kelly, because both collections were so joyful, but Ashley’s clothes are wearable by a greater audience. You won fair and square, and I’m happy you’re thriving.

Please knock it off it wasn’t about her being big she did not deserve to win period and she never should have won and this is coming from a plus side person stop making it about something it’s not Tim Gunn was nothing but fair and he was the one voice of the show that was fair the judges were never fair

I asked a salesperson at Victoria's Secret, in the Waterford Crystal Mall, if they carried my bra size was she said online. So, anyone under my size has immediate in-store access, but bustier women have to drive back home, log in to their computers, and purchase their bras sizes via the internet. How convenient! Also, Ashly is right- the clothes they make for plus-size women are depressing. I was so excited to hear that Macy's would add Melissa McCarthy's designs, but the excitement was quickly gone. It was the same boring clothes. I hope Ashley changes all that and creates plus-size clothing that's fun to wear, because I have yet to see a designer who has followed through and succeeded. Here is a great idea - now, someone, please run with it!
