I don’t know anyone that hasn’t drawn the conclusion that mainstream media are left biased and don’t appear to have any ability to provide balance reporting of events, and have zero ability to conduct fair balanced investigative reporting on pretty much any issue. Hi Sean This is called a "Fourth Turning" As named by the authors of a book by Neal Howe and A Strauss. It describes the demographic cycles and the break down of moral standards by those in power who have never lived through serious trauma and hardship The last Fourth Turning was associated with the 1930's and 1940's Great Depression and world war 2. It is also follows the long term debt cycle and wealth inequality which is peaking at record levels. It will end in tears if the masses do not call out biased media and academia when and where ever possible. Keep up the good work.

We need to move from woke to wake... to have a world where discussion and debate is encouraged.
@brucegibbins3792
7 ай бұрын
Woke actually came from awake being aware of social injustice and has it's origins in African American culture. A slang term. Now though conveniently repurposed as a slite or a derogatory term to describe liberal views. So prevalent now in this country's media lexicon with its generally limited vocabulary and child like excitement to have themselves heard their personal opinions passed off as truths that woke is a utility buzz word. Woke's Originall meaning as been now subsumed in a rush of conservatism and discomfort in other folks opinions. In the peculiar world of today, the human rights movement of the 1960s and 70s would likely to have been thought of as being woke and certainly by the media's talking heads in more recent times. Since he made an appearance in the print media some decades past, Chris Trotters views have been well thought out, middle ground and where good sense has often calmed a turgid sea of sometimes hysterical discourse. A society being a place for all peoples, the outlayers and boundary riders would have him emasculated, being drowned in a pool of mediocrity where entrenched opinions are never challenged. The bitter pill of truth Sugar coated to make the going easier to swallow. True things need oxygen to gain support this is helped along by media explaining more than offering personal political views on how to think and often occompanied with name calling slang terms more commonly heard where ignorance and poorly formed opinions have their gestation. The world's great orators and thinkers impart their truths without hysteria and hyperbole.. It's still early days for The Platform and so it is of interest to see how The Platform develops over time. They've identified a place for themselves among the media landscape and in that are doing a pretty good job. I'm unsure how it's current soapbox or town square identity wil continue undiluted but it deserves a chance to continue its nessesery point of difference where it's prime competitor appears to be the commercial free National Radio where once Mr Plunket was once an employee. There is an alarm click radio close by set to Mr Plunket's nemesis he derisively refers to as "Red Radio" although in all the years that I've been tuned into this station I can honestly say that I've never has cause to believe there is any conection there with communism, perhaps Rural Report needs to be investigated- there's bound to be communist subversives hiding under the bed there planning a peasants revolt. The Platforms onto it so there is still some hope left for our country. The Motu is, for the moment, safe enough. I think you'll find that the folks Sean Plunket gaslights for special attention where Sean can unleashes his vitriol are mostly doing and saying what they do in support of a legitimate point of view. These folks are not rubes, but instead intelligent and articulate people. The Platform allows them a place to be further heard. So that's nice, eh. But in truth, these folks have been invited onto the killing floor where their positions are challenged not by skill, but with the ambitions of a spider catching a fly. Yet seemingly few are shaken, instead maintain decorum in the face of a breathless interigation interview style. Fair dues, most appear to press on with their response in spite of it all. Most likely to have been media trained - thank goodness for that. Who needs a sh*t fight on The Platform.

Do we prefer not to mention how our children have been groomed to take the puberty blocker and ruin the rest of their lives? Instead, we focus on affordable housing? Tell me why can't we do both?

Now we can understand why the exPM needs to be involved with the ChCH call. So that she can maintain her channels into the internet and to maintain her international persona.

After listening to this, and around the 16/17 minute mark, I was forcibly reminded of the old saying and paraphrasing, "Ignore and deny history, dooms you to repeating it"

Food for thought. Great interview! However, both of you are missing a point. The "culture wars" are not a distraction. The "Posie Parker" event is not a side issue, but at the very centre of what's going on. Chris said, while we're distracted fighting over things we cannot change...the "real" stuff like housing, etc is going unnoticed. But the issue is that the things we think cannot be changed are being changed as we speak. Such as, black or white, gay or straight, even male and female, which you were already chuckling about as if it was somehow iffy. Reality, like the price of living and housing, will become unimportant. Delusion will prevail. You almost got it. Dealing with the women’s rights issue is not a side show. It's the main event. As long as we think the really important stuff isn't preserving the material reality and integrity of human bodies - both men and women - we're sleepwalking into the dark ages where the price of groceries will be the least of our worries. Another thought: Chris said quite rightly that many journalists who are not beating the main drum have a very hard time. Yes, and Jennifer Bilek is one of them.
