I had five trees in my yard when I was living in South Africa, three dogs and a cat. Nothing ever happened to them. I bought the house already with the trees and I didn't know they were poisonous. I do really like them they're beautiful and give a wonderful smell to your garden. Pity I can't get one where I live now (too cold).

I live in India, i bought this plant last summer but it didn't survive because of monkeys constantly uprooting it every other day and intense heatwaves and daily summer temp of 45 degree celsius (113F) - 50 degree celsius (122F). i live in the plains side of India and our weather is on extremes with low rains. Gotta say, its smell was something out of this world. Hopefully, I can buy it again (if its available, its a rare plant here). I know what I did wrong and I know how to do it right this time. thank you for the tips tho

Is there a way to fix the leaves if they turn black? Or is it irreversibly damaged?
@Homemakr
2 жыл бұрын
@Zainab Al Habibi, Leaves turning black could be a sign of root rot or bacterial infection. I am not sure if your plant is in a pot or ground. If its in a pot, you can try changing the current soil with fresh well draining soil and adding lots of coarse sand or perlite or pumice to the soil. Overwatering is generally the root cause of root rot. So water your plant only when top half of the soil dries out. Cut down the black leaves because they will not turn green again.

Hi, can you share some tips on how to aerate potted plants?
@Homemakr
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Glen Orie, it is pretty easy to aerate the potted plants. you can make use of a chopstick or any stick that is not very sharp or your fingers. Poke the stick in the soil and gently loosen the soil around the roots. This will allow the roots to breathe and stay avoid soil compaction. You can make use of terracotta pots. The porous nature of terracotta pots allows the better airflow through the walls of the pot. Adding materials like perlite, cococoir, pumice, coarse sand, charcoal, pine bark, sphagnum moss etc. to the soil mix can also help better drainage and aeration.
