On this episode, I sat down with author Drew Westerly to discuss the fulfillment of her lifelong dream, to write a novel. She's working on her debut novel - the first in a series - The Texture of Grass, with a goal to finish in 2024.
Drew grew up in a rural farming community, and spent her childhood living adventures vicariously through characters like Anne Shirley, Kristy Thomas and others she read about in books.
The public library was only a short bike ride away and she spent many years after school wandering the stacks eager to discover more mysteries, thrillers, and stories of horror, love, and adventure.
As an adult, she finds herself filled with the same childhood giddiness every time she enters a library or a bookstore.
On this inspiring episode, Drew shares some of her best advice, resources, and strategies to keep moving forward with her writing, even when it gets tough. She discusses the importance of friendship, accountability & encouragement, and shares - from her perspective - what makes a story truly great.
