I love how mixed we are. I purchased 23& me and my results were 65.5% European ( mostly Iberian), 19.8% Sub-Saharan African, 8.1 % Native American ( 6.6% specifically from the Dominican Republic), and 3% North African.

Gabe Stagg i don’t know if you’re joking or not but if this is a way to trigger people *hispanics* by generalizing them and labeling them as black then it simply just shows how disgusted you are with yourself, the self hatred really shows love.
I have discovered a lot about these kind of tests and I've been meaning to do another one as an update to explain what I've found. Turns out that the way we should be reading these results is not "I'm 10% native (or some other group)", but "there's a 10% chance that one of your ancestors is native..." which is a different matter entirely...

Thanks a lot Dawnae, I'm glad you liked it! The background information is very important, in fact more important than I even knew when I made the video. In fact, I'm working on an update as I have discovered a few more things regarding what the results actually mean and why it is very important to research your family and your country history in order to get the full picture.... ;)

Lebanon at the time was a majority christian country. The Lebanese were migrating because of a war that was going on at the time. And to this day Christians are a huge part of Lebanon's population. Some sources even estimate that Christians are still the majority.

The Benin/Togo is the Yoruba tribe. They had an advanced civilisation tens of thousands of years ago. Queen Victoria adopted a Yoruba princess whose parents had been killed by slavers. Her name was Aina but renamed to Sarah. She learned English on the boat trip to England.

TheHeadwrap I am interested in the Yoruba as I live in the Dominican Republic. These people are non violent and intelligent which is a rare trait and they are too proud to beg unlike their neighbors. They are good looking and unfortunately the women are trafficked because of this. I understand that the Nigerian uni students in the US who are outdoing nearly everyone are Yoruba? Why are the Youruba so special?

Where did you get that number from? I'm not saying that you are right or wrong, just that you can just come up with an specific number and not indicate where you got it from. As far as I know, there is no way to determine what percentage of the Dominican DNA is Native American (or African or European) unless you actually conduct a survey of a representative group of Dominicans. Also, the only survey that I known of that has been conducted in the country was in 2015 by National Geographic, the Dominican Academy of History, UNIBE University and University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia: blog.nationalgeographic.org/2015/11/06/genographic-sets-sail-to-the-dominican-republic/ A summary of their findings was published in July 2016 and it was established that the actual average of Native American DNA in the D.R. is 3.6% (about half of what you claim). The link below is in Spanish, but it's a Dominican report on the release of this study: www.diariolibre.com/ciencia-y-tecnologia/ciencia/el-dominicano-tiene-un-49-de-adn-africano-y-un-39-europeo-NE4251429 If you have another source to back up your claim I'll be happy to look into it.

Although Millions of North Africans don’t look or identify as black. They are just as native to Africa as Ethiopians, Sudanese, Nigerians, Angolans, etc. (Race is a social construct created by Europeans).
@tahliah6691
6 жыл бұрын
Searie Laveau North Africans are not 100% native to North Africa they are mixed race people part native Amazigh at about 30% part Southern Europeans 30% and part Middle East and some west African. Their high european doesn’t make them native at all. Part of my family are from Kabyle in Algérie and they are many shades in one family. Amazigh people don’t go by colour they identify by tribe. You can not identify Amazigh by colour because one family member may be dark with straight hair and others may be fair with Afro hair. It’s weird. It has always been a tradition amongst Amazigh women to tie material around a girls hair as they thought this would straighten their afro hair. Today most Amazigh women straighten their hair. My Aunty is very white if she was in Europe she would pass as Irish but her hair is quite Afro and fair and she has been straightening her hair for many years. Her children are some dark some fair....If you learn about the Barbary slave trade this is how they got their Southern European dna by raiding villages and kidnapping the women and returning them back to the region, there was a lot of piracy off the North African Coast in the 1700s and 1800s lots of kidnappings and slavery. If you look online at any North African dna it will identify where some of their family comes from in Europe. The middle eastern Dna is also due to the Arab slave trade along that region too. The riffians are more european dna than Amazigh too. Horners are not totally native to Africa either. Most horners bleach their skin today they along with the south Sudanese are the darkest Africans in Africa. In Ethiopia it also depends on which tribe you come from most Ethiopians doing the dna test are habesha who are a minority in Ethiopia and are more Arab in dna. The Oromo are more native as are the Afar.... etc. And are not native East Africans either they are 50% arab and 50% Native East African Bantu. They prefer to take 23andme dna test because it gives them a high african result but ancestry is more accurate for them and identifies their majority Arab roots due to the Arab slave trade on the east coast. They deny this but dna doesn’t lie and the Arabs will tell them their history. Because North African and horners are mixed race they only have children with their own kind the children will always also have the same percentage dna as the parents that’s how genetics works. Most west central and Southern Africans are pure African without any european or Asian dna. www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-africa/white-slaves-barbary-002171. Ancestry dna is better for the Amazigh to take because it separates their native North African dna from the Arabs. Whereas 23andme puts them in the middle eastern category which is wrong. North Africa is considered Amazigh majority but Egypt isn’t included because most egyptians today are Arab descent not Amazigh and before the immigration of Arabs to North Africa it was kushite which is Sudanese culture and tribes this is still evident in upper Egypt. Remember people migrate all the time and try to pass as another culture or people this is why today with dna people are finding out that family mêmbers have lied about their origins to fit in. If you have your origins in Africa you will have a tribe name. Somalians isn’t have a tribe they go by clans which is an Arab concept not African at all.
@tahliah6691
6 жыл бұрын
Searie Laveau yes race is a social concept invented by Johann Blumenbach that’s why it best not to call people black or white or yellow identify people are european African or Asian origin which makes more sense and less confrontational. The man in the video is more African origin due to slavery and he has less slaver Iberian dna with some native.... but he does look Moroccan. It’s not about identifying as black or white that doesn’t identify anyone at all. North Africans are not black. Most Africans are not black they are shades of brown to dark brown. South Sudanese and somalians are very black. Most Europeans are not white as the Northern Europeans eg southern and Eastern Europeans have a yellow sallow complexion which Northern Europeans don’t have because they are mixed too with Arabs and West Asian dna. Also many Eastern Europeans are mixed with Greek or Italian who have a sallow colour or are dark skinned...... you need to explain what you mean by someone being black and someone being white? If you have non european dna in you you cannot be white. It’s not about looks. The more mixed a person is the harder medically it is to treat someone as to find a match is near impossible
@seana.3780

Tahnn Ju They just have mixed DNA from Europe and Asia along with their African DNA. This doesnt mean they have direct lineage to Europe and Asia but they share genetic connections. Similar to how East Africans share genetics with West Asia as well

Yes, I'm 51% African but I was just following the usual practice of identifying Sub-Saharan Africa as a distinct region. People from Sub-Saharan Africa have a distinct phenotype from those of the North part of the continent and that explains my appearance. If that 51% was all from Algeria or Morocco I would technically be 51% African but could easily pass as white.
