I've been doing a lot of research on insulated tumblers and your video has sold me on the MalloMe. It gets good marks every place I've seen it so far. I drink only cold drinks so keeping ice in the cup in hot weather is important to me at least. Thank you.

I think the Mallome is a very good value considering what you get with it. My Ozark Trail tumbler from Walmart has performed very well and at around $7 and change (smaller one) it is an awesome value. The Yeti is just overpriced and not a good value in my opinion.

I have the MalloMe and love it. I'm sure the others are fine tumblers as well. I just wrote my Amazon review titled "The lid makes the difference" The cold lid has a silicon plug in the center for the straw. Straw slides in easy, but nearly fills the hole. Very little liquid will come out if its knocked over. Without the straw, with the plug in place, it is watertight. Turn the tumbler upside down, no leaks at all. I just ordered an RTIC for $9.00. I'll see how I like it. I am definitely a MalloMe fan. Bought mine on a special for $12.99. Thanks for sharing this Brian. And thanks to MalloMe for sponsoring

Awesome review Brian as always. I have a Ozark and a Rtic both perform really well I did a less scientific test and just left ice in mine both lasted well past when I thought they would. I also ordered the straws and cleaners and the handles too. The handles make it much easier to hold especially for people with smaller hands like my wife. I quickly stopped using the straws because I kept banging my teeth and lips on them. The cost after buying the extras was much higher than the MalloMe and If I get another one it will be one of those just wont use the straw. For a good straw go to McAllister's Deli and get a couple of extras their straws are big enough to make it out the top of the opening better than most.

These type of cups are not new honestly. Their popularity has just been renewed recently due to social media and yeti marketing. I've been using double walled stainless steel cups with stainless bottom and either a screw or snap lid with the gasket for around a decade. My favorite ones before they became as common as they are these days were always the ones sold at Starbucks. Even those were just a new take on the tried and true Thermos brand double wall steel carafes from early last century. They are all just good products using a time proven design. Thanks for making this video though. Factoring in all that comes with the Mallowme I'd agree that it's currently the best value. Might have to pick a couple up for myself.

Like if you put some test pages in the bottom and stuffed the top full of fiberglass insulation, would it keep the documents safe? Recent test I saw showed Ozark/Walmart did better than Yeti. So may be closer to the MalloMe. However, the additional components MalloMe offers definitely makes it more desirable for a few bucks more. Just wish you had done the temperature test on the cold ones as well.
@SurvivalOnPurpose
7 жыл бұрын
I did. and the results were that the MalloMe was about 5 degrees colder. It just seemed pretty obvious that until the ice had melted the temps in all of them would be very close, and only would begin to deviate once the ice had melted. Which is exactly what happened. When only the MalloMe had ice left (even the tiny bit shown), the temperature in it was about 5 degrees lower than the other two. The video was already running longer than I wanted I decided there was no reason to include the thermometer shots showing exactly what you would expect with melting ice. And in my tests, the Yeti actually seemed to be a very slight, infinitesimal bit better than the RTIC. But not enough to say so.

I disagree that was a testing flaw. I was not testing potential, I was testing real world results. I tested the products exactly as they are configured from the manufacturer. If the other two had supplied a closing lid I would have used it. It was a totally equal test of the 3 tumblers exactly as a purchaser would receive them. I do absolutely agree with you that the sealable lids most likely were the deciding factor in the temperature retention results but that is one of the reasons I think the MalloMe is the best value out of the 3.

I would not recommend it. I think the space between the double walls is probably as much of a vacuum as they can create. That would seem to way to minimize heat loss due to thermal transfer. But I don't know how that would react to intense heat from the outside. Maybe I'll do a test.....
@mallome6974

can't beat ozark trail, color options, no shipping, least expensive, and I just saw they got in some of those closing lids at my walmart for about $3. I ordered some of those straws, straight and bent. I prefer the straight. The bent ones flopped around all over and just annoyed me.

I know, but by the time you add up Walmart's price for the tumbler, handle, sealable lid and slide closure lid you are at about the same price as this one, without including the straw and brush.

I just like colored ones :) MalloMe seems like a much more reasonable option than yeti any day.

The lid seals so the test isnt even close to being accurate or fair.

I have to completely disagree with you. I tested three products as they are sold and compared the performance as each one is sold to the consumer. Should I have handicapped one?

Survival On Purpose I’m saying that to truthfully display the products capabilities then it NEEDS to be completely equal...sealing a container airtight, in test this close, is a clear error. Also, I JUST bought an Rtic and there lids now seal. It makes a difference. You aren’t a scientist, unfortunately youtubers aren’t bright enough to see through unqualified people making unqualified claims.

@@SurvivalOnPurpose ... I agree 100%. You tested the product and how it was meant to be used out of the package. As James goes on to state, the others are NOW coming out with lids that seals. Mmmmm, I wonder why!? ;-) .... Your test was just fine. No worries.

Hard to take a paid review serious. There was nothing scientific about the test, you should have left the lid open on all of them to get an accurate comparison. No doubt a closed lid keeps drinks or colder or warmer, but inaccurate test, should have been done with all lids open or closed. Not "scientific" but hey, you did get a nice check for it :)

So, let me get this straight. You’re saying that a head-to-head comparison of three products tested as they are sold is somehow biased because I didn’t handicap the one that comes with the closing lid? OK
@MicroNicheTools

It's not handicapping, it's called running an unbiased test. If the sponsor's cup came with a electric warmer, are you going to include it in the test just because it came with it? If you would have left the lid open like the others, the results could have been way different. Nice try though, at least you got paid for it ☺

Actually, it sounds as though your biggest problem is that I got paid for my time evaluating the gear and making the video. Because, honestly, what you are saying makes no sense to me. If someone is interested in purchasing this (or any other product) I think we should find out if the product's features (such as a closing lid) are an actual benefit. And, for the record, I doubt if the results would have been "way different". They weren't that different as it was. Bottom line, the MalloMe just seems like a great value for what you get.

I don't think the mallome will stand the test of time. I call BS on the cheap Chinese product. Oh geez, links to Amazon for the Mallome, shocker. " No bias, right" 😉

First, they are all made in China. Second, my wife is still using the MalloMe and it has held up just fine. Third, not only are there Amazon links but, as I mentioned, they actually sponsored this video (me to test and evaluate their product). Oh the shame. But feel free to buy the $40 version. It works very well too.

Survival On Purpose , Thanks so much for your hard work and the all around professionalism you use to calm the masses:) I have a new YETI Rambler 30oz Tumbler that I just bought from a coworker at 20$, now I just want to buy the Mallome, instead of purchasing the straw, handle, etc..for the yeti. Thanks so much!
