Favorite match is when he smashed McKenna in the dual meet at Cornell couple weeks before nationals. Took him down 3x in first period. Yianni : 243-3 in high school (all 3 losses in 7th grade, plus he missed his senior year to get surgery or he would have been about 290-3). 100-2 in college That’s a 343- 5 record in folkstyle. plus he won states in 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th grades, (surgery in 12th) then Ncaa championship fresh, soph and junior year . Guy is money in folkstyle.

As a Michigan fan one upset I was really excited to see was at 125 lbs. Jack Medley (UM) beat #5 ranked Eric Barnett of Wisconsin. And he didn't just barely beat him, he came very close to a major...it looked like he was going to get the takedown but time ran out.

Just have to say the weight class of 149 is tough. You realistically have Yianni and Gomez as the top wrestlers at the moment. 165 is without a question the toughest weight right now. Just the top 4 being O'Toole, Griffith, Carr, Monday. All of these guys are NCAA Finalists/Champs and that's not even counting the 5th-8th ranked guys who are easily capable of beating these guys.

Another brilliant update. There's a lot of "ifs" this year. But I couldn't help but notice you didn't speak on Penn State very much. Being a fellow "Keystoner" you must know that's a sacrilege. That'll be a hundred "Hail Marys." And if you're not Catholic, no matter. We're accepting transfers. Oh yeah, my favorite was also Bryce Meredith. I think that's when we were all certain he has the skeletal structure of a dishrag.

Spencer Lee is taking the Georgia football approach and HUNTING. I think having to redshirt last year put a chip on his shoulder to comeback stronger and better than he ever has. I mean the guy won a Natty with NO ACL's, but he still feels he has something to prove.

The winners this year are the fans. There is so much parody this year. Illinois came close to beating Iowa. They may be a sleeper as well as the ones you mentioned. If Carr goes undefeated with the stacked weight class and he gets more bonus victories (which he has not always done) he is in the race for the hodge. However Spencer will win it if he gets his 4th title. Plus he seems to be going to for the pin more than the techfall. It's scary to see what he can do with fully healed knees. His pin of the Illinois and Northwest were awesome. Just when you think you have seen everything he can do, then he pulls those off. Wow. What's scary is that he might be even better at freestyle than folkstyle. I think he is also sending a message to any Olympic team challengers.
