xie xie sifu . one of the best discussions and explanations on whip theory while also showing it's function clearly , the flexibility and the old man example was a great example. Very glad he asked these questions. especially historical as well. we were fortunate he spoke english so we could understand the conversation. xie xie

My question is how to separate from the mma world.

black mantis We are often educated to separate sport fighting from martial art fighting or so called real fighting. I asked Master Chen several times. His main idea was that a real fight is about life and death so it cannot happen unless it has to. Sport fighting, on the other hand, looks brutal but most of the time does not kill people. You see Master Chen's skill, and I am sure that you don't want him to do those moves with full power on you. When he does demo, he usually say that you can do whatever. Master Chen told me that he met some MMA fighters who want to challenge him. The challenge has to be stopped because they obviously see those moves can kill people. I know there are a lot of arguments going on about whether traditional martial arts can fight or whether MMA is superior. I think both martial arts communities should learn from each other.

Why are you always panting when exerting power. Seems you easily go out of breath. Something isn’t quite adding up there.

I might be wrong but my assumption is it's because of the microphone. You don't have to exhale that much into it to sound like you're about to die soon.
