Do these need to have PCB to prevent some from overcharging when in series, or can they be put in series like lead acid? I know the voltages are different. I never even seen battery protective circuits on the internet for LTO batteries. Normal Li-ion and LiFePO4 would have some batteries drain to zero during discharge without the PCB. Thanks

I'm a little late to the party but would you still use 10C draw for a single cell? I'm trying to pinpoint maybe a bad cell. What would be a sign a cell would be "bad" if I load tested each one individually? I assumed if a cell dropped like a tank with a load it should handle, then that would be the bad cell.

Something is wrong here. 10C means you get 6 min of power draw. You pulled on them for 30-40 seconds and pulled them from 2.55V down to 2.19V ... that is about 40% of the capacity consumed in 40 seconds??? that means in 100 seconds this battery would be dead. At 400 amp draw, 100 seconds is 11ah of capacity... So you must have 11ah cells, not 40ah cells. I am using your video to get my calculations, so if I am doing something wrong let me know. Or hook it up to a hobby charger and tell it to run a cycle on it to get the real capacity. I'm using the discharge curve from www.ev-power.eu/LTO-Tech/ to figure out SOC from voltage at 10C.
@Devin20852

That’s not what 10c means.. I said I pulled 10c..... meaning I pulled 40x”(10c)=400a draw.. if I pulled 5c then you would have seen me pull 200a... I pulled 400a for ~30 seconds to SIMULATE A BASS FORMAT MUSIC RUN.. such as park and pound in meca or bassbox in iasca/db drag... and etc with no alts.... this is a reference reference for car audio community to calculate how big of a bank they need for 30 second runs at 10c..... anything less is a gain and less voltage draw.. there are plenty of videos explaining C ratings for you on KZitem bro :)

@@Devin20852 I understand what 10C means... It is clear, you do not fully understand what 10c means... 1C = 1 hour of play time. 2C = 30 min of play time, 3C = 20 min of play time, 10C = 6 min of play time... You pulled 400 amps (10C), and the battery was going to be DEAD in 1.6 min. That is not a 40 ah battery. That was the point I was trying to make.
@Devin20852

Eric Ensley you answered your own question. This video helped man in the car audio community. And was intended for individuals doing 30 second music runs.. highly likely one will play for 15 mins straight with no dips or on battery power alone. It’s a reference. So if I’m building a 12,000 watt build for 30 sec runs I would build 3 banks of these for that(18 cells) and charge around 15.5 daily with balancer... and with Alts voltage drop would be less if I was clamping 12krms.

@@ericensley2427 Do you understand that the cells can simply be safely discharged at a rating of 10C. It does not say anywhere on the technical specifications of these cells that they will maintain the same amount of overall discharge efficiency when comparing 1C and 10C pulls. Since the discharge efficiency is not linear how can you assume that a 1C 40AH rated cell will perform identically to that cell at 10C. (I.e how are you making that assumption that since it does 1C 40AH that the discharge efficiency will be identical in a 10C draw) This test shows just that, pretty basic... Lithium cells are rated at true 1C rates and their relevant 10C rate is not always as efficient however it is SAFE to pull, as seen in the video.
@Dnxnd
4 жыл бұрын
If you want to truly test whether the cell is a 40AH cell or not simply hook a single cell up to a 40amp draw from a completely charged state (cells in this video also aren't fully charged but rather are charged to alternator specs, furthermore the assembled battery is only as strong as it's weakest cell) for an hour and account for variances in temperature and discharge efficiency. You will see at 1C the cell is 40AH lol.. 10C is irrelevant, but this test correctly demonstrates the discharge efficiency of his cells at 10C and what he'd expect to see during a thirty second draw in terms of overall voltage drop.
