Helix was a completely new character for me. She was created well after I had left GI Joe, and well before I decided to start an adult collection. I recognized her from when my son was into the modern 4 inch figures, but I knew nothing about her. When she was released in Classified, I was not initially impressed. To be honest, I thought her abilities as a savant made her a bit too super hero like for GI Joe. Almost too perfect of a character. However, the more I looked at the figure, the more it grew on me. I finally picked her up, and I'm glad I did. I really like the figure. I still ignore her abilities, and I think of her as just a highly trained CIA/ISA (Intelligence Support Activity) type government assassin. I can't stand those mantis blades. They are a cool comic book style weapon, but it reality they end up looking like polio crutches. It's odd for me to like a "new" figure as much as I do her, but that's happened several times now with the Classified line. Wolf Spider, Shooter, even the Mole Rats. I'm not opposed to new/newer characters in this line, and the GI Joe team seem to have done a good job with the ones they've introduced. I do like a lot of her backstory. She's also one of the only female figures I still routinely mess with. I'm constantly changing her pose or switching up her weapons. She's just a fun figure. I will add, Helix was the first figure I actually had concerns about the QC. I heard about a lot of QC issues with her, but luckily mine was perfect.

I don't know if you read the ARAH comic, but in the last few issues with Helix being used so prominently, they kind of downplayed the whole big brain doing calculations on the fly thing. They seemed to reference the training her mother gave her and just made it out that she has really good battlefield awareness and doesn't get target fixation. Her, Scarlett, Lady Jay, and Jinx tearing through the Cobra Cassino on Cobra Island was pretty awesome.
