The difference between yoga and Pilates is actually a teacher! My personal observation is Pilates teachers (especially classical) usually have much better anatomical education about the body and the spirit of practising (especially if they have worked with the Elders, like you). So an amazing Pilates or yoga teacher will bring so many benefits to the students which will be similar and totally individual (since we are dealing with individual bodies). Unfortunately, yoga and Pilates have been diluted and the result is we don't really do yoga and don't really do Pilates. My advice - follow a brilliant teacher and you will benefit!

So this is the first video I'm watching in my research of pilates. What you said at 4:15 about being super flexible, would that imply pilates could help someone with hypermobility and specifically EDS?

Hey short answer yes! Longer answer if you have EDS you'll want to make sure that the teacher you take from understands EDS fully. There are people who train Pilates teachers on how to handle EDS. On OPC we have a workshop that helps those with hypermobility (not as extreme as EDS) in what to consider in the exercises. xx~LL
