Yogi is a 4 1/2 year old Caucasian Shepherd & bigger than my husband & I. They live on average 13 years which is long for a large breed let alone a giant one. They are in relation to (not by blood) Tibetan Mastiffs but typically bigger & more aggressive with less furr. Ancient breed bred to protect against bears & wolves, work in max security russian prisons to scare inmates into submission, for war & to guard homes/properties. Fierce, aloof, independent. They are aggressive by nature & you cannot train out instinct but can control with lots of training, bonding & socializing. Loyal to their family if handled properly. Not a typical dog whatsoever many are abandoned, sheltered, rehomed or euthanized & they’re a rare breed already. I help rehome many who were underestimated & got from a byb & owners found out especially after they mature between 1-4 years old that they cannot handle them or are scared of them or get seriously injured. Must qualify to own from a reputable breeder to ensure safety of the dog & people. Most vets, groomers & trainers refuse the breed. Lots of work & dedication & you have the most amazing dog in the world ❤️. Massive with a massive biteforce & an even bigger heart with love for us. His parents & ancestors are all champions of the breed registered as “Caucasian Ovcharka”. “Ovcharka”means “shepherd” in russian. He came to us as a 10 week old pup after taking two planes from overseas to Boston MA USA. He was the first male CS to earn a trick title in a specific organization. They originated in 🇬🇪 Georgia & then the russians took the breed & got them officially recognized in the UKC as “Caucasian Ovcharka”. There are different types. #georgianshepherd #caucasianshepherd #caucasianovcharka #yogibearsmom #russianbeardog #guarddog #giantdog #doggrowl #ancientguarddog #bigdog
