Not only he is one of the most diverse and talented actors out there, but he is also such a real person. Have been a fan of him for years but not once I have seen him being fake in an interview. He is not afraid to talk about how he was affected by the stardom but he is also aware that being popular does not mean you are a good actor. He is proud of his works but he is also aware of his shortcomings when he needs to be and he always works to improve his weak aspects. I also felt him when he said that he is disappointed that not many people seemed to like Chicago Typewriter because that’s truly one of his best works, I’m glad that he thinks so as well regardless of its’ popularity. I love how sincere and insightful he is throughout this interview and he is so likable as a person as well like he is as an actor. I am so glad many people are watching Hellbound right now too, he deserves to have more recognition globally as he is one of the best actors out there. He also has 3 upcoming movies with genres ranging from action to comedy and I really hope his hard work pays off. He deserves it.

Truth is, a lot of veteran famous actors are being exposed right now because of their acting, and people aren't buying the image they're still selling anymore. I ended up watching the works of those 2 actors as well because of this series. Its not a complicated storyline. Its just 2 different eras folks!! Am really pissed that it got neg reviews. Finally someone saying it loud: a popular actor is not necessary a good actor. And his understanding of stardom, its effects and the fact that there are other ways to be a good actor and many routes to contribute to the cinema world, is refreshing to hear. That is why I like him soo much in every role he has. I know I already asked Netflix to pair him with Jeon Yeo Been (After my Death and Night in Paradise still haunt me), as I consider them having a similar understanding upon what acting and cinematography means, beyond stardom, popularity and fear of unpaved roads or atipical characters. So hear me once again you too, Swoon. 😀 These types of actors and actresses I want to watch and like me more. Because they don't just entertain us, but shake us to the core, educate us and create new roads and memorable characters, like groundbreakers. All the best for this actor and manny memorable projects in the future! 👏

'Eyes are the window to the soul.' There's this level of exhaustion that can can be seen in his eyes. One may mistake it for physical tiredness but for people who've been deep in their pain, one look is enough; it takes one to know one. Hong-shik is very articulate and vocal about societal issues. Also very self-aware as he describes the impact of each project he starred in. But even with that level of intelligence, when it comes to pain one could be clueless just like any other human being. You can talk about anything expertly but when things start hitting home, the evasion can be surprising. Self-awareness will not be enough to go against the quicksand of pain. It takes conscious will, effort and support of true friends to get out of the sadness that's starting to be comfortable over time. I've always expected a different persona behind every Korean artists because of how strict their system is. As an 'idol' you must satisfy the fantasies of the fans and hide your human struggles which is the most selfish a fan could ask for. But that's how things will work out for you; smile and pretend you're happy and everything everyone wants you to be.

I just found out about what's going on and I'm so sad :( he's prob my ult fav. This will be a big blow to his life and career but I hope he'll eventually get through it all and come back to acting. Sucks that he can't be in Hellbound 2 :( was really looking forward to that.

As expected, Yoo Ah In's words is so deep that it always keeps me thinking. His personality, his views, is something that could somehow open up my mind on a lot of things. Although it is obvious now that he is a talented and experienced actor, his performance on new projects always surprises me. It is like instead of adapting to that role/character, it feels like the role/character is adapting to him. Not sure if that makes sense, but I totally have high respect on him. 👏

That was my first drama of YAI and I have watched everything else he's done. And yes he's the best guy to do Lee Bang Won!! Looking forward to more of his works. Fighting! 💪💪💪

A very talented actor. Brings each character to life. You can either hate him or love him in the roles. That's how "real" and good he is. Keep up the great work.

Oh my, I'm happy to know I've seen all that was mentioned and some not mentioned projects of yoo ah in here such as antique bakery that is really old and voice of silence which is one of his recent brilliant work, he's definitely my fave Korean actor, his roles are so diverse and he is great in acting really complex characters! Hellbound's director made a spot on choice in Jung jinsu~

Yoo ahin is a thoughtful, detailed, and talented artist who skillfully translates and articulates his work. It's unfortunate that drugs can become a powerful crutch for many great artists. In Korea, there's a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug use, but I hope there's also a focus on helping users heal from addiction, not just punishing them for drug use. Hope to see him on the screen again.

Not only does he have a diverse body of work and is constantly challenging himself with his roles, but he truly understands all the characters he's played. He gets to know them as you do a real person, then puts his own spin on it. This is why his acting is so real, because there's really a piece of him in each character. This is what makes him such a good actor.

Thankyou so much for this interview! I only have access to Yoo Ah-In's dramas via Netflix, but have watched all his work that is available there. I only speak English, and am not a young person. However, I have seen many actors over the years, and I consider Yoo Ah-In a "real" actor as opposed to a "popular" actor. He seems to choose interesting roles, and portrays each character in such a believable way, he becomes that character. I have never been disappointed with any of his work. (How could anyone not love Chicago Typewriter!) Thankyou Yoo Ah-In for allowing me to see a real actor at work.

Always enjoy genuine and in-depth interview with Yoo Ahin, he'll delight you in so many ways by sharing his true self. Good actor indeed are some life-length topics to explore, and I am glad that he managed to keep the same premium quality + wide varied character setup for all his works, which for sure are not easy tasks. Btw Burning are too the movie always on my mind, and still keep revise regularly till today. Thank you for being an actor and really looking forward to your future works!

He is my favorite korean actor and he reminds me of my favorite Hollywood actor Johnny Depp. The way they said they're strange, the way they portrayed different characters in each of their works, and even the way they don't believe how handsome they are. I love eccentric, genius and talented actors.

Unlike many in the industry, Yoo Ah In is a REAL actor. Others think about just looking "pretty" for every role so they don't lose their pretty boy image. But Yoo Ah In is not like that. He puts a piece of himself in every role, which is sure to make you remember him forever. He's the most versatile most memorable actor in the industry.....and what I love the most about him is that there's not a Single person he works with that can Overshadow him in a movie/drama, regardless of their fame. He is a REAL actor And anyone who didn't like Chicago typewriter is blind!!!!

I watched pretty much all his work and have been following him for some time now and it always amazes me how even if the roles he is playing are very different there is a common demeanor between all of them which is his own style He is an astonishing actor but I also love how he doesn't lose himself completely into the roles so u could somehow tell it's always Ah In playing I know for actors they are mostly complimented on their power to completely get into the skin of the character they are playing and that is amazing but Ah In is different he feels somehow like an artist with his signature style kinda like a musician or a painter
