I don't think any comments that I have heard in any of your videos have come from any sort of place of "hate." I think you just like openly discussing your thoughts and seeing the views of others, whether that is in agreement or disagreement. I love watching your videos for this very reason even if I may not always agree with said thoughts. Don't be afraid to keep discussing your mind, its what makes watching you so enjoyable.

Hey mr. Pokerick, what redeems you is your willingness to reflect. It's rare to see that on the internet nowadays. Kudos to you! Maybe something to take away for the future is to try and truly understand what people mean when they use a -ist or -ism that's new to you. It's easy to assume, but it takes balls (like you showed today) to reach out and try to understand.

Hey Pokerick. You seemed a little bit stressed by some discussions or replys to some of your takes this video. As far I was reading most of the comments people are rather polite and try to explain what was wrong and I hope you realize, that most of your watchers and commentors come from a kind place as you are always very polite about everything. I hope you realize that and keep on discussing everything you witness and you want to talk about in your videos even if you aren't having that mucht knowledge about, because your relaxed and gentle nature creates a great platform for a lot of topics. For example your first talks about mental health and psychotherapeuts were displaying surface level of knowledge and depth about those professions and their all day buisness, but it started discussions and talks about psychotherapeuts which then led to a platform to talk about mental health in generel and I felt like it could be a "safe space" (yeah, the irony, diskliking the idea of safe spaces whilst he created one himself) to talk about own issues and discuss them. Keep on rolling as you are.

Hello my fellow Mr. namesake (I tend to think that because of the other channel hehe) (There is a term we use for that here in Brazil, is "Xará" [The pronunce is something like ShArA with the open mouth] and for me is more fitting in this case). I have two questions for you. In linguistics terms, it is better to increase the number of words in the language in means to expand the human knowledge about subtle things as behaviors and emotions? Or it is better to create other meanings to the actual human vocabulary (in this case, let's use English as the "universal")? And now the same question, but analysing in Cultural terms, including categories like gender or capabilities as they were the "major" theme of discussion in the last videos. Ah, and how the things are going in latvian grounds? Nice video as always! Keep up with the good work and thanks for brings those amazing philosofical questions. Have a great day!

I think people reacted negatively to the identity comment because you were very vague and that may create the suspicion of very negative views or just being unsympathetic on your side. I do belive you would agree however that people can call themselves what they want and that being recognized as their preffered names and pronouns should be mandatory in professional settings. Of course this is mostly limited to the extent of the country's culture and tolerance policies, but the personal freedom exists nonetheless. Much love!

Pokerick, as someone from the U.S., I have much respect for you and your genuine willingness to learn and reflect and admit when you're wrong, even though I frequently disagree with your hot takes. I'm also here to apologize for the U.S. media, our news networks are trash, and our social media tends to highlight the absolute worst in people trying to act out just for views, I promise to anyone who hasn't been to the actual U.S., most people above the age of 20 are really nice and willing to talk about stuff like real people. I tend to be very liberal, and it makes me sad that people will hate on others who are trying to learn and aren't doing anything bad, purely to satisfy their own ego. It sets back a lot of our movements which were started to protect real people who are struggling with very real issues.

I can definitely recommend learning about economics, having a decent economic lens to view things through helps a lot in making sense of a lot of things that otherwise seem confusing. But you gotta go into some detail, not just the big picture, you'll understand the whole economic machine in a entirely different way once you've examined some of its smaller parts in more detail.

I would like to say that the identity topic you are speaking about is far deeper and more scientific than people seem to think. It is a topic rooted in biology and genetics and there is significant scientific studies and data to back up that not only these peoples brain waves go along with their preferred identity, but their chromosomes do as well. There are mutations in chromosomes, multiple, and they have significant impact on development of the body and the mind. People seem to get so frustrated and uncomfortable with the topic on both sides because they simply can’t understand why others feel they way they do, or why others can’t understand the way they feel. I think it’s great for people to be asking questions about the topic as long as they are able to ask from a position of learning and curiosity either than from a position of close-mindedness and hatred. I think everyone could do with a little more sympathy for their fellow human.

As an American who has many discussions about politics on the Internet (a man needs hobbies OK?) I will say - you are really kicking the hornets nest here man. If you discuss politics with Americans in real life 9 times out of 10 they’ll say “Oh, that’s interesting” and change the topic. Say the wrong thing on the Internet and people will go to extreme lengths to harass you. It’s just not worth it. League and politics don’t mix, this community is very toxic and politics is a very sensitive subject. Plus, there are so many other interesting things to talk about. EDIT: and of course by politics I mean anything related to identity. Race, gender, sex, class, etc. I feel like Europeans hear politics and think “tax law”, while Americans hear politics and think “Someone from Group A made a comment about Group B, I am upset!”

I have the same problem - I ask questions out of pure curiosity. A child-like sense of wonder for certain aspects of the world. And people take it the wrong way and then I get shamed for it and then I just stop asking those questions. Fuck people that are shaming you for asking questions.

Hi, me again. The thing that redeems you is the fact that you were willing to admit you were wrong. Most people who are challenged are unwilling to correct themselves, especially publicly like this. There isn't anything wrong with being wrong, it's only a problem when you refuse to learn and change. So seriously Mr Pokerick, you're very much in my good graces. Keep making your opinions known, taking in information, and being willing to accept them, and you'll be a better man than most could ever hope to be!

I don't think you are hateful, but as a general rule that I think works for everyone is that if you are not sure if someone will get offended, than just don't say it or don't bring up the subject. I know it might sound bad, but there are a lot of interesting things to talk about, so think about it as a way to define priorities. If something might be offensive for someone, than put it to low priority and talk about something else.

Mr. Pokerick i must say I enjoy your videos but I do agree with the pushback on some of your recent comments. It seems you are willing to change your mind with new info and adjust accordingly. I think that is a rare quality (and a good one at that) so I cant help but offer unwarrented advice. I would say be a bit more aware of the media you consume that may shine a light on a community's worst moments or people. In this case the lady who may have used ableism in an improper way. Instead of taking those things at face value. I recommend trying to actually meet and engage with some people of those communities to hear why they feel the need to fight for an encroachment of their rights or defend themselves so aggressively. Places like discords for philosophy or things of the like are a great place to discuss and learn about such people and topics.
