When I worked at Kirkstall Road during the spinning 'Channel 3' version of the ident, we had a huge golden rotating chevron sculpture in the reception area but without the '3' added on the side of the chevron. Security had to be careful or it would knock them over if they hadn't been watching...

Great memories, we had to put up with the Anglia Knight until 74, this meant that local news had no relevance whatsoever, strange far off places (no Humber bridge at the time). Remember my parents fitting new aerials on our house, meant we could draw in not only Yorkshire but Tyne Tees too. The irony was when we finally did get YTV properly we got booted out of Yorkshire for a few years 😂 Humberside bah!!

Good work Adam. I have a feeling that as a son of the House of York, you might have left the best for last. For me, Liquid Gold is the definitive Yorkshire ident. But speaking as a son of ATVLand, I would like to know why the people of God's Own Country would want to adopt as an unofficial national anthem a cautionary tale about not wearing adequate headwear while traversing through bleak moorland set to music.

I used to live in King’s Lynn and due to our house’s location we couldn’t get Anglia, so it was Yorkshire from Belmont until the digital switchover. However our little corner of north west Norfolk was completely ignored by YTV but instead we got news from irrelevant places like Hull, Doncaster and Leeds but nothing that was going on down the road in Norwich…

Thanks, Adam. I've been waiting for this - my region! YTV really did produce a lot of quality programming for the ITV Network, drama, comedy, factual and gameshows (not forgetting that we had twice-nightly Whiteley) - we really were spoiled in Yorkshire! If I remember rightly, the liquid gold ident cost £40,000 to produce and was the most expensive ITV ident of the time. Nothing but the best for God's own county!

The “liquid gold” ident really took advantage of the available technology at the time. I know Channel 4’s 1982 ident was a technical innovation, but considering ITV’s other franchise’s idents made little use of the CGI format, this is impressive.

I really like how you let more of your accent out in this one. For obvious reasons of course, but I especially like the way you said episode. Normally the o is so formal sounding, but it sounded really relaxed this time. Given the vintage BBC aesthetic you model yourself after, I can understand why you don’t do it all the time, but I think it’s nice. I would totally support a switch full time if you felt like it!

I always thought Adam’s accent was a bit more Midland-y than Yorkshire. Of course, YTV broadcast into Notts, Derbys and all of Lincs, and even into parts of Norfolk and Cambs (the lattter unofficially). And Yorkshire itself has a wide range of accents! A city or town reveal may be needed!

I’m pretty sure that Yorkshire Television could’ve been its own tv channel if it wanted to. I mean, it basically had the power that LWT had, and maybe it must’ve been one of the most successful network for its time! Also, liquid gold is one of the best, along with the 1994 (?) ident. I just find it pretty tranquil.

ITV should be restored to a regional provider instead of what it now is (a countrywide blob with no localness). ITV Regional news is a far-cry from what it used to be, especially when compared to what the BBC does these days in the regions. Am I the only one who finds itv regional weather intro / extro sequences annoying as it feels like they take longer to play-out than the actual forcast? Can you possibly do a series about the evolution of regional and national TV news over the years?

Can't argue with this! Even though I am very territorial with my own regional identities, Thames and LWT, and think they are the best, Yorkshire comes an extremely close second. Thames and LWT are joint top to me. The 1987 one is fantastic, I agree. A thankfully quieter version of the Ilkley Moor theme (for people like me in other regions not used to having it blasting out almost constantly lol). It's just a really great identity. The earlier ones are fantastic as well though. The only thing I've never understood with YTV is how did Kings Lynn get served by it?! That's in Norfolk, not Yorkshire. Is it something to do with the TV transmitter/s in that area not being able to give them what I thought would be their region, (I thought they would be covered by Anglia or someone)? Regional telly was confusing sometimes lol!

Adam how come you don't do the "Final Closing Words From Our Broadcasters" video endcard anymore where you would play one of the featured TV networks' closedown idents and it shows your channel logo with your narration. To be honest, the repetitive "This has been the Adam Martyn TV KZitem Channel, thansks for joining me and I'll see you next time" outdo is a bit lackluster for my opinion

Too much people got scared by the earliest YTV logo (I love that but if it's played unexpectedly might scare everyone) but YTV got more viewer friendly by the time. Known as the nightly Jobfinder channel in the 80s it was who experimented nighttime with Music Box. Then they returned to nightly Jobfinder then they did about 100 idents with the background becoming the base of the ITV from the Heart idents (with the spinning Y replaced by the hearts). Too bad YTV and TTTV had to "share" idents with "Channel 3 North East" sometime in the 90s... I don't actually know if to complete this Adam should also react to the YTV Emergency Logo... *WARNING: IT IS SCARY AS THE RABIES PIF*
