For an American, this sounds like something from NFL Films. I can imagine John Facenda narrating "The frozen tundra of Lambeau Field"

Hi Randy. Yes, I can see what you mean concerning the music. All NFL fans will know of John Facenda's great narrations to NFL films. Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers and the arena nicknamed 'frozen tundra'. The Yorkshire TV theme is loosely based on an old folk song titled 'On Ilkla Moor Baht' At' (On Ilkley Moor Without a Hat') and although not frozen tundra, when the weather turns up there, losing your hat in the wind may be the least of your worries. Hope you enjoyed the music. Best wishes, Nigel.

One part of Ripon North Yorkshire didn't get Yorkshire Television at all, it got Tyne Tees Television, around the Palace Road area.

I'm looking at transmitter coverage maps in some 1970s ITV yearbooks and it looks like what you're saying is true. I also see that no part of Harrogate could receive YTV's signal even though it's further south than Ripon and therefore closer to the Emley Moor transmitter. That's the UHF signal; the VHF signal is a different story.

That was always such a disproportionate map when the Yorkshires and Lincolnshire plus Nottinghamshire are huge geographical counites Makes the Granada region look almost the same!

Where did you get the announcerless music?

Hi Gabe A. I downloaded this from the internet maybe 10 years ago and I think that it has been quite skilfully edited to exclude the announcement. So, I have been 'sitting' on all of this for quite a while. YTV will be making another appearance in due course. Thanks for watching.

Out of all the ITV Region Marches, this one is sadly my least favorite, it’s an ok theme, and I kinda like it, but I think there are better ones out there. Again, it’s nothing against Yorkshire, especially since a friend of mine lives there but that’s just my personal preference. However, there are worse Startup themes out there.

ITV startup marches were mainly popular during the 60s & 70s, although HTV & YTV's lasted into the early 80s. In the 70s ITV companies experimented a lot with other types of music. I quite like this march as I see it as an expression of how important YTV was to the network. Interesting to note that in the last 28 days at time of writing, this comes 2nd only to Grampian for viewing figures. All the best. Nigel.
