Does anyone mind explaining what she meant by “have a bias towards action over preparedness”? I can’t seem to figure it out. Thank you! 😊
@muchelleb
Жыл бұрын
Hey! It's basically saying - don't spend all your time prepping and planning for your goals and new habits. Instead, take action, try them out, dive in - then you can do more planning and prepping based on what you learn. Does that help?
@alexandraapatino

Oh my! Yes, it definitely does! I’ve been struggling with this so much. I try and learn so much at once that I feel overwhelmed and stuck when it comes to taking action. You might have just changed my entire perspective. I appreciate you so much 😊

most ppl know it as a procrastinating loop. you're getting ready to do that thing, but not doing the thing. as an example: my toxic trait is planning how I want to organize my clothes and use my organizers but don't actually do it bc I'm unsure and I want to feel confident in the choice before doing it- and 3 weeks later my clothes are still in the unfolded clean basket.

The contrast between "self-discipline" and "self-management" might just be game-changing for me. Thinking about "self-discipline" immediately makes me feel out of control and helpless. Thinking about "self-management" - at least in the last 15 minutes as I've watched this video - makes me feel empowered and in control. Thank you for that perspective shift!
@sourgreendolly7685

Agreed! It reminds me of when I shifted my focus from 'not letting my emotions run my life' to using emotional regulation skills. It's the same concept but regulating is managing in this context. It feels a lot less out of control and it shifts my brain into problem-solving mode rather than wallowing. Shift from self discipline to self management has the same vibe so I'm definitely going to be trying it.

This is the perfect video for me right now. I've been in such a funk with my long-term goals and haven't figured out why. The "mental preparedness" seems really useful, and the bit about replacing "How can I drive this behaviour?" with "Why aren't I doing it already?" is blowing my mind a little, as a person who always asks the former question. And perfectly enough, my answer to "Why aren't I doing this already?" is "lack of mental preparedness"! All the love, girl!!

How true, once I started desiring vegetables it became a habit to eat every day to the point where I stopped eating meat. I never really put the two together before as it happened naturally, it evolved that way for me. Great point MB. I also go on low mode of things that drain me daily, instead of quitting (eg: exercise, I do 10-15mins instead of 30min-1hr/day). But then I go hard on the good days where I have heaps of energy and in a good mood.

This may be my favorite video of yours over the past year. I've come back to it numerous times! Each next season of mine seems to make use of one or two of these strategies and I have to say, I've gotten more done than in the previous year. Always fire, M! Keep up the great work and keep sharing your passion!

That thing about managing my thoughts when something ''bad'' happens at the begining of my day or even at the middle of it, is something I should really look up. I always, without an exception, end up being miserable for the rest of the day and just waiting for that ''horrible'' day to pass so I can have a clear start the next morning. This though has killed my motivation countless times and has literally destroyed my whole day or even week when I keep that mindset on. Sometimes I even catch myself waiting till Monday comes to put myself back in track. Working with it will literally change my life. Even by taking a look at my KZitem chanel, someone can see that the promise I gave myself about uploading at least a video per week has fallen apart so many times, and it is because of that.

I was just thinking while listening to this, "You should write a book, like self help books." But as every video is a new topic, new research, new tips I thought "Why don't you in every video make a pdf of what you talked abt and maybe a worksheet?" Idk it just popped into my head lol-

Wooow, Michelle! I‘m so happy YT recommended a video of you again to me some weeks ago and I subbed again … And now this!! What an amazing eye opener and then with all this truly grand advice in it! Just what I need. Today I finally thought about the path after I will have my baby. I found out that I will also go back to work, like most… And I wanted to get out of it because I have energy issues and so many topics more that you adress. Holy moly! What a gift! Thank you so much. The start of finally getting my life really in my own hands! I have tears in my eyes 🙏 Thank you, beloved soul!

Muchele can you recommend a book for those of us struggling with perfectionism? I think its impacting so many areas of my life. I can be very "if I cant do it perfectly why bother at all" such as only having 5 minutes to exercise when my usual routine takes 20 or never buying a yoga mat to do yoga because I dont know if its the right one (I've spent literally hours of my life trying to choose), or "well my body will never be perfect after having a baby so why try at all" (obviously there's so many reasons but they don't seem to move me out of my stuck thinking) I really think this all or nothing, black or white, perfectionist thought pattern is crippling my ability to live my best life.
