@@reinlily7972 it is possible but stains being sheer and this isn’t a gel stain (gel stains are a little thicker and have more buildable coverage). After watching your video I was thinking about the white SFO over a robin egg blue paint. table top? kitchen cabinets? would love your opinion.

I think that would create a beautiful coastal/beachy as well as a french country vibe. I have used white over a blue similar and its very pretty.

This is gorgeous!..have a white buffet that I want to do something different to the top..cannot wait to try! Have you ever lightly sanded the top or do you just go right over paint?? Want the driftwood look...

Thank you. Yes you can scuff sand your painted surface if you like, it’s not necessary but you can if you like , I always just apply over fresh paint

If one coat gets your desired look then do you need to apply any layers of SFO in natural to get the durability if doing a dining room table? Also would the natural yellow over time?
@BorninaBarnBoutique
2 жыл бұрын
I would suggest adding the natural for added durability - they say it can yellow over white. This is what they say about it - Please keep in mind that all oil based products typically yellow in time. Using this over top of a white paint, will cause a slight yellowing effect. We recommend our Tough Coat for going over lighter colours to avoid yellowing.

Would this hold up in UV? Thinking about doing my front door like this instead of stripping it down to bare wood then staining.

So there are many exterior rated paints but I would check the Fusion mineral paint website on the specs of the stain.

Wow! This is beautiful. I’ve got a whitewash table that I want to modify to match my new kitchen; which has espresso cabinets. I love my table set. Part of the table is whitewash and the rest is not. Can I do this over the whitewash and make a shade darker than what you did? If so how? Thanks I’m advance

This works over fresh paint or bare wood best. You would want to scuff sand so that there is good adhesion any existing . If you want more detailed instruction - I would be happy to do a virtual one on one with you - you can reach out through my website www.borninabarnboutique.net

Hi. It’s a Fusion Mineral Paint product. Check their website to see if you have a retailer near you.

Thanks, I intend using this product on a painted surface. Do you know if the painted surface needs to be a fusion paint? The painted surface was painted with Dulux paint. Thanks again.

Hi I got water based stain plus poly is that going to work on my front door with green color base paint?
@BorninaBarnBoutique
2 жыл бұрын
So I have never used this stain over a stain or a stain wit poly in it. I would try a test section to see how it works together first. I’m not too sure it will adhere well as you are using a water based stain with poly and then applying the SFO (an oil based stain with built in top coat).

I stripped and sanded 6 chairs and a table. I white washed the chairs and I do not love them. They came out way to white. Can I do this over that?
@BorninaBarnBoutique

You can for sure and with a 10 minute open time it’s easier to work with than a glaze that set up instantly 😀

Could this work if a wooden table is already painted black? Or does the wooden table need to be white first?
@BorninaBarnBoutique
2 жыл бұрын
Well the issue would be that it won’t really show up on the black, so having a lighter under color helps shape the look

Thank you for this great video. I want to do this to our end tables which are white, with the Fusion Driftwood. I am not sure what they were originally painted with, latex or oil base paint. I see that the Fusion is an oil based stain so can I still use it or is there a way of finding out what paint is on the end table's? Thank you.

Thank you - It’s hard to tell what type of paint is on a piece. I would suggest scuffing it up just a tad to create good adhesion with the stain and give it a try, you never know sometimes u less you go for it! 😀

What kind of paint do you use? Semi gloss etc? I would think certain ones absorb more of the stain?

I use fusion mineral paint and it’s more of a matte finish.
