Salutations Austin! I really like the Les Paul Custom’s with the maple fretboards, as they are essentially the Gibson version of the Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters with the maple fretboards, which are some of my favorite versions, versus the guitars with rosewood fretboards. This one is a very nice example of one of these guitars, but this is the first one that I have seen with a mahogany neck. The pickups sound great! Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸

I think this is really the biggest reason I'm not much of a Gibson person. Outside of freaks like the Les Paul Deluxe, they all have the same electronics and sound basically identical to one another. Fender guitars are a lot more interesting to me personally because they are so vastly different from each other.

Cool, so rare to see maple board with non-maple neck on ANYTHING. Always thought it's the perfect "Look, i'm different" combination. Also matches nicely with the body being maple & mahogany, though i'm not super fond of the wood tone on this particular one, it makes sense as the neck matches the body. They should reissue this spec!

The guitar player in my band in the late 80's had a maple fret board LP. It was essentially a Black Beauty but a custom order and was a one of a kind with other non standard accoutrements such as the inlays, binding and electronics. I forget why but the guy who ordered it either wound up not having the money when it arrived or he didn't like how it turned out so my bud grabbed it. I wonder if he still has it.

In 2015, my aunt came over, had 6 guitars in cases; her friend had won a bid on a storage unit, and they were in there, and she didn’t know anything about guitars. 1. A pristine Lucille, signed. 2. A pink Flying V, very clean 3. A 70’s strat, natural, mint. 4. A blonde Les Paul, maple fretboard, very good shape. I wasn’t able to buy them from her, because she thought i was too low. After a week, i asked my aunt again, about the guitars- the lady ended up selling them for 3k less than what i offered- 2200.00 total! I was so bummed!!! Even though I’m left handed, and couldn’t play these righties, as an investment, she basically did the equivalent of setting them out on the curb…..

Austin, I'm surprised you don't own an Ozone machine, Talk to Jerald at Guitar Chimp and he can tell you his method and maybe recomend where you can purchase the equipment. He might even have a video showing how to use the Ozone generator to eliminate smells from guitars, cases and equipment. I agree with you about sellers who don't store their equipment properly then they don't let you know about the cat piss or smoke smells that stink.

Hey Austin, I dunno, looking at the control cavity, I'd say it's possible that it has been re-wired. Just looks to me like someone has done a good job of it. Some of the joints look possibly re-flowed and the amount of flux and the lack of solder over the ground bus wire on the neck tone pot makes me think someone has used some de-soldering braid there

I traded it in 88 or 89 for a kramer with a floyd rose because i was enamored with Eddie Van Halen and the whammy bar. Wish I still had the gibson. But, I still have the Kramer. So, it is what it is.

Everytime I pick up one of my guitars and play, my fret hand (left hand) always catches the smell of the herb, some Dunlop Formula 65 lemon oil and guitar polish does the job and removes the smell very good. I do this when I travel with a guitar, we don't want to waste the TSA/Douane precious time for a smelly guitar haha. My cases lie in my storage room so different room.
