Could use any lighter really and a blunt object like the handle of a wood spoon can be used as a muddler but still it is more complicated than the mixed drinks people usually have at house parties which is typically alcohol and mixers. Not many people are whipping out oranges, let alone a lighter and a muddler for at home mixed drinks unless they want to flex their cocktail skills

Most of the men on both sides of the family are very old school and traditional (half are immigrants too) in one way or another but ALL of them serve the guests in their household on their own, and the cultures on both sides are quite different. You walk into the house and first thing they ask is “would you like a drink? A snack? Are you hungry?” Bc its called being a gotdamn competent host, and that skill is unisex

One of the manliest men I've ever met (six foot eight, hunts and fishes on the regular, was in the military) lays the best tables. Ever. He's the most wonderful host. He always knows which drinks pair with which apps. Which salads work bets with what. How to arrange the napkins all pretty. Taught me everything.
