It should be obvious to us all by now that any questions that don’t glowingly point towards the church are questions they don’t want us asking.

The scriptures give you the questions to ask. That a great concept. The scriptures opened up for me when I threw out everything I’ve been taught by men and let the scriptures teach me and the Spirit teach me.

When you mentioned joy, a particular scripture came to mind 2 Timothy 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; And this is what my grandad wrote on the photo of my nana that hangs on the wall in our marae. The best way to describe the cultural equivalent is like the temples of old where certain entrances, gates etc where open for certain things to certain people, very complex thing to explain. But photos of loved ones get placed on walls, theres ceremony etc On that photo this is what grandad wrote, he did translation into english aswell No Te Atu Mataora Tei Aere Atu Ka Toe Mai Te Mea Manea Te Ruperupe For all the Joys that have left us Something Joyfull & beautiful remains The scriptures provide maps of meaning and maps of being. Look at humanity over the cycles of time...same sh*t dressed a different way🤷♀️ Thats why Hes the same yesterday , today, & tomorrow

It is a pleasure to hear your insights and suggestions, which encourage me to keep working toward personal growth. There is a lot more out there to learn and understand. The LDS church shames members and threatens them into not asking questions (control). God himself said if anyone lacks wisdom (knowledge), ask Him. The Bible and other scripture mention books that we don't have, and even part of the BofM is withheld. Ask and study, despite one of the GAs saying you can't have spiritual experiences anymore.

That has not been my experience. I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourages questioning. The Seminary Cirriculum was rewritten to accept and encourage questioning. If you have experienced people shaming you into not asking questions, that is very sad, and I can understand you not feeling good about that. In the last 3 Wards I have lived in, that was the opposite of my experience. I wish you peace, and answers to your questions. 💕

That’s not true we’re told many times by church leaders to question everything and gain personal testimony of all things and that following blindly is offensive and one prophet I believe Joseph smith said our church is about gatherings all truth from all sources. The key is to learn to recognize truth. They give us a lot of truth as well but we should be doing the same work they do. If someone uses unrighteous dominion and makes someone wrong for asking then they’re mislead but there’s bad people everywhere humans will always let you down but this isn’t “the church “ because some people in it act wrong

@@strawberryme08My experience is that there is a lot of lip service given to the idea of asking questions. You are only allowed to ask certain questions. If you cross the line you are considered apostate and risk church discipline.

I love Alma 12:9-10 “It is given unto many to know the mysteries of God; nevertheless they are laid under a strict command that they shall not impart only according to the portion of his word which he doth grant unto the children of men, according to the heed and diligence which they give unto him…and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full”.

Thank you for bringing up what meekness is. Not understanding this makes it makes it difficult to understand what Moroni teaches when he speaks on meekness. Webster's 1828 dictionary makes it more clear that the definition of meekness used at the time of the Book of Mormon translation meant being able to be taught by God. Meekness when following who? Not mortal men but God who teaches and confirms through the Holy Ghost. I always appreciate your comments. They so often serve as additional witness to what I'm being taught personally.

There is a lot more. We have almost been conditioned to be stuck in our current ways. It seems everything is working against us. It is kind of like climbing a mountain, but with every step it gets steeper and the wind stronger.

Yes, that's such a perfect analogy. I feel it all the time. Fortunately, if you know what's ahead it can usually give you enough hope and energy to get through it. But when you're being told that you have nearly everything...why even try? We need to get used to being uncomfortable and fighting the fight. This needs to be the rule and not the exception!

@@ajboyle Push through the pain! 😊 I have been doing strength training and it is very similar. It is so comfortable to not exercise, however after you do then you feel so much better and more capable. The Gospel of Christ is designed to make us more capable. The Gospel of Satan is designed to make us completely dependent.

It is called a strong delusion. "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 2 Thess2 Thanks!

“Obedience is the first law of heaven, the cornerstone upon which all righteousness and progression rest. It consists in compliance with divine law, in conformity to the mind and will of Deity, in complete subjection to God and his commands” (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 539) The question is, Obedience to what?! As they are won't to do, those in power will always insinuate obedience to them is the answer.

The first law of heaven is agency. Without agency, obedience is slavery.

Wonderful thoughts. A soul that has been baptized by fire will be a changed soul. It will think, feel, and be different. Perfect? No. But a mighty change will occur. As far as more, yes, there is so much more. 2 Nephi 31-32 present the doctrine of Christ, but Nephi adds hint about what’s “more.” In 2 Nephi 32 he tells us that after entering the path of faith, repentance, baptism of water and fire, THEN we may seek to be taught by the Lord in the flesh. That is personal scripture and doctrine to us.

I rarely read the scriptures. I already read the important things and they are written in my heart. It is an instruction manual that leads you to God. After following the instructions correctly you no longer need the manual, you receive new personal scripture from prayer.

Ask God to show you what scriptures you should be searching. Not reading. Not studying. But SEARCHING. I have received thousands of pages of revelation from the Lord, which I have written in my journals. But I search the scriptures regularly as the Lord directs me. If the Lord isn't teaching you something, or directing you to study something, or directing you to listen to somebody, I would advise you to check in with the Lord. If you can honestly say that He is pleased with the course of life you are taking, then so be it. If you know so much, maybe you should be teaching the rest of us.

Be cautious Don't trust in feelings wickedly deceptive the bible says. Study the word especially new testament and gospel of Paul. 1 gal. Verses 8-9 reject any other gospel especially if not lead to the cross. Mormonism teaches by feelings and revelations jesus atoned in garden of gethsemene not apon the cross. Satans plan to deceive even by feelings and false light and revelations. But true don't hide behind the scriptures nor bible or book of mormon study. Lost books never got in the bible for reasons. Book of Enoch says pray to Enoch. Wrong. Book of Thomas says weak girly men can be led by a woman wifey. Book of mormon says obedience comes first before fully activated grace. Obedience first laws of hell without grace fully activated. God helps those who cannot help themselfs but mormonism teaches God helps only those who help themselfs.

One day this change in your nature will be tested. My life is crazy right now: I've been thrown into what many would call an impossible, unbearable, miserable and hopeless situation and I must have been pushed beyond my breaking point. But the Lord is my Shepherd: I shall not want! There is no breaking point and I am totally relaxed and at ease, knowing exactly what to do in every situation, with much hope for the future. I am enjoying all the new things I am experiencing in this very strange situation, and I see exactly what is going on. And what I don't see I trust God has in control. Everything that I went through before working together with God prepared me for this time, and now it is EASY. :)

Thanks for sharing your current experiences. I feel for you, and I know we are constantly given greater experiences (in both light and darkness) as we walk the path. And the result of all of them--if we will allow it--is greater knowledge of and trust in God. As we get more light we can comprehend and defeat the darkness. How cool it is that you are enjoying what God is allowing you to experience, even when it is brutally difficult.
