My birthday is on the 18th, not today. That being said, if you liked this video, leave a like and a comment. If I gave you existential dread, let me know how much I stink at: www.shorturl.at/iQT19

Well that was... too much of everything. I feel like you had something here then slapped alot of b-roll on it. Still your editing style is good, your effects are on point, but the writing was abit hard to follow and when I start to understand it... "LOL LOOK AT THIS FUNNY SKIT!" Then the video is done with a quote but there is still more randomness. It felt like you were flinging things at the wall for this one to see what sticks. IF you gonna skit and gag, atleast do it like the cat, be it in context or some connection to it. Or have it flow more natural. For example the foot tutorial thing felt very loosely connected. But you simply added the scene: "You know what? I am going to live right now! DO WHAT I WANT! HERE WE GO!" Or in that vain.. the gag would landed better as you went from calm explaining to understanding to "I am going to follow this advice" to being "wild" Sorry if I am overly critical, but I did watch your content originally for the explaining and understanding with sometimes good connections to hilarity, but now it feels like you took a completely different turn wich i get, but it feels your new turn though AMAZING LOOKING, feels disconnected. I trust you eventually get your own techniques perfectly. Give it time! You are still learning with this. Do not change your editing style/effects and such, it's still on point. It's just your pacing and writing needs abit of a connection. You got this!

Thanks for the comment! I'm not leaving this comment just to respond to you but for anyone reading this to potentially get a better understanding of my content. While most of this is an experiment and this format is new, your approach to criticism may be impeding on your understanding of what I'm doing here. My content feels disjointed because I don't think I need to pay much mind to cogency. That isn't to say more of the episodes have more connection. The next video is actually explaining photography principles using a famous image as an analogue. It's one of the more streamlined episodes actually. My core video essay writing is still here but I've taken more of a meta-approach to relaying the message of each video in addition to incorporating more of my film-making background. As for the skits and comedy, I can understand most peoples qualms. If it isn't for them, it isn't for them. However, your criticism that I slapped b-roll on it without paying much mind to the rest of the video is short-sighted, which is the exact opposite of how I want these videos to viewed as. In my opinion, the foot tutorial skit doesn't need "You know what? I am going to live right now! DO WHAT I WANT! HERE WE GO!". I think this addition would kill the joke by way of over explaining. The irony and shock of that being what comes after a uplifting quote from a philosopher is why that is funny. I think having to build a bridge between the two ideas would actually be insulting the viewers intelligence. I can't really defend the absurd or randomness, that is me just throwing a wrench into the video essay format. At the end of the day though, I have had more fun making these videos than I've ever had making my previous content. I started to hate making videos because of how limiting they were. While I still intend to make those videos, I needed to make these to get into the habit of making content again. That being said, Flashcember is returning this year in its usual format. I do genuinely appreciate the care that went into this comment and the fact anyone would bother to put this much thought into it makes me grateful for the viewers I still have.
