Rain in movies adds an element of 'external conflict'. This is a new idea to me; one that makes sense. Thank you for the insight, sir.

This guy’s work ethic is insane. He does an hour and 40 minutes zoom call with me, then later that day he posts an new 30 minute video. Insane!

I think I got a grasp on this but it can't be covered too much as important this is in any story. Nice job going into all types of conflict. Good video as always,you did spark some ideas thanks.

Hey Jake, I was wondering if u could give an example of the base layer time ticking clock and a top layer tick clock to show why the base can’t finish first? Almost 600 subs, looking forward to when you hit 1000, appreciate ur content brother, go hard 👍

Adam, the base ticking clock is typically tied to the main tension of the 2nd act. So if you wipe out that base clock, you also wipe out the top layer clock... because the top layer is tied to a subset of the 2nd act. (And after I typed that, I realized that may be very confusing.) Let's take _Speed_. A bomb on a bus. Will Jack Travern save the people on the bus, or will the bus blow up? And to help with our example, there is a literal clock. Payment made by XX time. This is the base clock. So any other top layer clock we add is one that will lead to saving the people on the bus. It can't lead to anything else because there is nothing else the story is concerned about. So a top layer clock is: Will Jack's partner find the bomber? Well... he does. Kind of. And then he dies. The bomber anticipated the move. So that top layer starts... then stops. Another top layer clock: Will Jack disarm the bomb? He gets on a dolly, goes under the bus... but no. He can't disarm it. That clock stops. Another top layer clock: Will Jack save the people before the bus runs out of gas? This one is tied to the big main tension... so he saves the people, literally moments before the bus blows up. But in any case, if the bus blows up, or if the top layer clock stops, the movie is over. So the top layer clocks are always tied to the main tension... and as soon as the main tension is resolved, the 2nd act is over and all other clocks are meaningless. Hope that helps a little.

Again, your probably right, it just seems though , past a certain point , too much of a good thing is not in actual fact good. Taste is subjectuve and looked at from a majority taste, skip conflict at your own risk. Personaly, one of my top film's of all time is' my dinner with andre'. Two middle aged men sitting down and talking for two hrs or so. I dont believe either one had a crisis of any kind going on either.

Once I saw a World War 2 movie about a Germany submarine crew picked up by a USA Destroyer. The movie begins before the Destroyer leaves port. Every scene was full of conflict. Long before the war action is introduced, there is conflict between the characters. I wish I knew the name of this well-made movie. If I am not mistaken it had Hollywood stars in it.. The early scenes had conflict and I noticed at the time that minor character conflict can be very interesting to the viewer.

Everyone in this village has seen that movie; Auntie Tomasa , Elias' grandmother, used to rent video cassettes. She would go to Mexico City to purcase them in Tepito from the 'pirates' who provided copies of movies for sale. She only had about twenty movies; I saw that one about the submariners several times when I was a child. I couldn't read the subtitles, still I can remember it was all very exciting; maybe it was the background music?¿

I didn't understand the difference between moral and philosophical belief? I feel the moral belief stems from philosophical viewpoint, so what is the difference from the context of this video? Asking coz I wish to understand this video better.
@BigRedStripe

Simply, moral belief is what the culture of the story would consider right and wrong... philosophical belief is what the individual character would consider right and wrong. Many times, yes, those do align. But there are times when they don't.
