I've been wondering what the difference between "property links" and" relative property links" was. You explained it so quickly and easily. Thanks for sharing, Jake.

Top work as usual Jake! I often link the seed of the Turbulence displace to the index of the layer, that way the noise on each layer is unique, especially good for the larger turbulence displace, otherwise they tend to synch slightly. Also you can copy the effect and paste it on multiple layers at the same time :)

Anubis is, no joke, the most useful plugin I have in my arsenal (and I use Motion 3 a lot!). Just being able to render and transcode quickly and automatically from AE has saved me tons of hours that would've gone waiting for Media Encoder to even work.

I also have Anubis and it's lovely, but would you say clicking Ctrl+Alt+M + setting to MP4 by default is that demanding?

Demanding? No. Inconvenient to have to open another program just to spit out an MP4? Absolutely. For the price, the convenience of Anubis is a no brainer to my workflow.

Ahh man, once you got to “Copy Relative Property Links” I can’t imagine why I would use regular ole “Copy Property Links.” I’m sure that works for someone’s workflow, but I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to save yourself an eventual extra step. Great video, thank you! I’m already thinking about how I can incorporate this into my next project.

If you wanted to set up a global colors comp, you could use regular copy with property links to drive colors throughout the entire project. Though I'd definitely recommend you just get Ray Dynamic Color.

Nice video I would like to know if there is a way to equally distribute keyframes. Suppose I want the first and the last keyframes in the same position but have all the in-between keyframes equally distributed, is there a way to do that?

Hey jake! I just wanted to say that (for me) the "s" sound on your voice is a bit loud... I don't know if you do any audio processing on it or if its maybe the mic but if you agree with me you could use an effect called a "deesser" on audition (i'm not sure if it exisists in Pr) to help keep those "esses" controlled. Btw Loved the tip will share with all my animator friends :)
@steveh718

Really loving this! The only problem is that the "Random Seed" Expression for the Boil effect has all the layers move in the same exact manner. How can you create a different seed / speed between all those layers in a single move? They're all connected to the same effect on the "Global Controls" NULL, so that's why they all react the same...
@JakeInMotion
2 жыл бұрын
You could multiply the random seed by the index of the layer, or use seedRandom to set the seed to be the index value.
@shubhendrapatel

Interesting but why not to use an adjustment layer and apply effects on it ?

@azizakhmedov

Or any layer as guide layer
2 жыл бұрын
I would also guess he's using Global Control Layer with null, to have separate effect on each layer. Because if you would use all these effects on Adjustment layer, the final effect on those separate layers would be as one single unit, without any small intricacies that is seen when you apply those effects to separate layers.
@JakeInMotion
2 жыл бұрын
That's exactly right. Being able to apply effects to specific layers instead of across the entire comp is very useful. A boil effect might not seem like a great example but if you wanted to isolate the effect to only certain layers and not the background, this would be a great solution.
@itzzuzair9517

Sorry, I thought that answered your question. Individual text properties aren't controllable with keyframes, so no, the only thing you're able to use this on with text is the source text property.
@riccardofissore7996
2 жыл бұрын
@@JakeInMotion ok so, unfortunately, no magic behind that command. I know it's possible to manually create controllers for the text features throuch scripting (and there are plugins too that do that) but it's pretty painful and I think you can't still control everything like inter-letter spacing. I'm asking cos I found myself creating an animated text composed by multiples copy of the text, one of them it's precomposed and I'd like the text to be linked so that I can change for example the tracking, the font and the size, just by editing the master text. Maybe the solution was to keep my master text in it's own comp and use that comp anytime I needed a copy of it to be customized with layer styles and effects. I should try and check if I encounter other issues.
