Only realised recently why I was feeling so bitter and empty, because I wasn’t acting on the curiosity and ideas my brain feeds me. Past 3 years I followed others advice for my career. To do business, to get marketing skills. But I am only becoming more and more angry at the world. I think it’s because I’m not expressing my self through music.

It is not that I have a disorder or something but I get distracted very easily 😅. This video of yours just randomly popped up and I just watched it whole, as normally as I watch other videos, but then I felt like there was something that resonated in the video that I wanted to hear again. After watching it, I realized this has been one of the best videos that helped me remember what I was missing in my life. It is that, "you need to have fun and you need to have inspiration". It was really never about the resources or anything else. It has always been about falling in love with what I always wanted to do. Thank you so much for reminding me about all this. 🙏✨️

one of the main thigs to getting this, by experience, I,d say its dicipline, I love to draw, but never really did it like I wanted to, and everyday I said to myself that I would draw everyday even when I didnt feel like it, I wasnt doing anything anyway, and everyday I starded putting more and more hours, I started seeing what I didnt had for procastinating so much, started having fun with it, starded to be happy to see progress, all because I drew even when I didnt want, now I draw 6+ hours a day, easily, and I love, I love it so much I could give anything to be at I am right now, what i was a month ago is already too far behind I dont even feel bad for starting early, that the point I fell into, is better to be doing late, than never doing it, hope it helps someone to understand that, it took me a long time to actually put that inside my head.

But I'm in the work and instead of just let time happen almost when My turn it's done I listen a little bit this kind of stuff and put all my energy on what I really want to, because we all as humans wants to go to the top of the hill yes that's true... Sometimes not all of us have the chance so, a little push maybe is what someone out there need. (BUT JUST GETTING MOTIVATED AND DOING NOTHING IS USELESS!!). Love att: Hazard.

The 'not having expensive/big budget things so I can't do the thing' deals in emotions What do the equipment/people you work with/all the things you've have if you were rich/had these resources GIVE you? EMOTION. You feel good because you don't have to worry about money or because you got the status bump (either in your eyes or others) or you have some misconceptions about needing x equipment or y equipment or you're easily distracted/can't stay focused (ADHD, trauma, other) so you think these things will help you. Pro tip: You can emulate these feelings without you needing to break the bank or waste time and effort with these other things. Most humans run on 'interest'. You are less likely to be inspired to walk down the block for no reason, but 100% likely to walk down the block if there's a car crash or your friend lives there and they have a dog or some other interest-drawing thing. Like, most people hate their job. And most will probably notice that they absolutely drag a*s going INTO work, but are light af (probably with relief) to LEAVE. Interest. You want to do x thing? Learn y skill? Finish z project? Find out what's stopping you. Is it your internal negative thoughts? Is it a time issue? Is it because you can't 'seem to focus on anything' because you have some undiagnosed or even unrealized issue (ADHD, etc)? Figure out what is stopping you, get help for it. If therapy or doctors or drugs are too expensive, find the next best (healthy) alternative. Meditation, journalling, self-improvement. Research and deep dive into what you think you might be suffering from (depression, ADHD, autistic burnout, anxiety, OCD, etc), and experiment with behavioral and other types of fixes. If it works, keep going. If you have emotional blocks or whatever surrounding doing a thing that's getting in between you and your goal (learning that skill, etc), figure out why the block exists. Is it negative association? Is it because you find it boring? Figure out those things as well and how to get around them. There are ways to achieve what you want and it usually boils down to 'knowing yourself' and 'knowing your limits'. Like, don't cheat yourself or let your negative/depression/low self esteem thoughts convince you you can't do a thing. Learn and be patient with yourself. Being a d*ck to yourself does not spark joy

I really resonated with what you said about how making things you don't enjoy kills the creative spirit. For many, many years now, I've tried to write songs and make music that I loved and that I could be proud of. I've rarely found that because I always end up hating everything I make. There's always some new problem I find with it, or more often than not, I just hate everything about those songs. I made them, I should be proud of them, I made something unique. But the hatred has really attacked and sabotaged my creative spirit, like you say. It gets in the way of me learning to get better at the craft by taking long, long breaks in between making songs and by making me tell myself "What's the point?" It's very easy to feel discouraged carrying that around. It's easy to give up, but I know I don't want to. I will heed your advice. And make something that I love. Make the things that excite me. Where I lack knowledge, I will simply discover what I can, and enjoy the process. Thank you for making this video.

Same here, but as a plastic artist. It's been 5 years of hard compromise that brought me fruitful things and people, but being honest all I feel is it just gives me a small fraction of joy. I look back at my artworks and only see shit despite the people writing me nice comments, and the hours and days studying, taking courses, practicing, and creating. Probably is because I believe there are more important things in life than to keep creating frivolities and content that will be looked at just 3 seconds in a screen and then forgotten. It sucks... But I continue doing it because is the only thing I have, not so much hope in finding excitement again, honestly.

The biggest takeaway for me was: Let the silence be. As a kid, I was super creative, I had some crazy ideas and I had them often. I often wondered what happened... This makes perfect sense coz when I was younger, I didn't have a phone, I marinated in that silence until I was saturated with ideas! Now that I think about it, even the ideas I get now, have come from that silence. When my mind is given free reign to just think and not bombarded with podcasts, music etc whenever I'm doing literally any task.

I felt like I just found the exact thing I didn't know I was looking for, I think this video is the very encouragement I needed all this time. I'm just thankful for you beyond words, as it all makes perfect sense. See, I've been in a slump for some time now and can't seem to get back up. And I've been questioning myself a lot, beyond harsh sometimes. Your every word just resonates with me, because perhaps really the very thing I need is quiet, after all this world is so loud and most times everything is so overstimulating, and much more often I grew to hate the process and dread it to be honest. It feels as if I'm losing my creativity day by day and everything just get so boring. But as you said, a shift in perspective can possibly do the trick, since I do certainly have the control over my choices. and rather than hating the process, learning to love may just be the right step to take: to find peace in the quiet, to not do something because I need to but because I want to, and just to rediscover myself along the way.

This is a great video, I just got a boost of motivation to implement some of your ideas, such as transforming my work/study place to be more pleasing and comfortable, which is something I already wanted to do but kept postponing. But, more than yours tips, I loved your discourse... I love how you think that romanticize is not to pretend something is better than it actually is, but rather seeing the true, very real Beauty of that. And to be open to our creative Being. There is something about the process too that some people should also believe, the fact that they have the goal in mind or know what they must do deep down, that is something they should commend themselves for. All the time, I tell myself "no one can unleash your artistic vision and passion like you do, only you." and I think it's something to think about whenever one is losing hope or nervous.

Yes very true, no one else will be able to do this for you. You are seeing what you are seeing for a reason. No one else is seeing the exact vision in your mind. It's a calling and until it is answered, something won't feel right in the soul. We need to embrace it and realize that it's our destiny to pursue it. Like you said, only us. I believe God gives us these visions. It's not something to ignore. It will reward us, in a fulfilling way

Rediscover the part that pushes you back - I know, what it was: A music event with cool songs and dances, cool choreographers online. But the problem is, that these things change. The music event is not what it was 15 years ago, when I actually wanted to perform there, but was still a child. And the choreographers get older, new dancers and TikTok steps take over and the current dance scene is so much about showing off in videos rather than creating sth original. This makes me sad and this is a reason, why it's hard for me to go back into dancing and pursuing these goals. I don't want to achieve them in the world of 2024, but in the world of 2009-2013.

Hmmm interesting, maybe this is meant to be happening to show you what you really want to do despite what the world is doing. Maybe you're meant to go against the grain. The world, I find, makes those tests all the time. It's up to us to stand out and accept what we want to do from the soul despite what the outer world is doing

Geez, this was the best of these videos I’ve seen yet. I’m a believer and struggling with what to make because it doesn’t feel “holy” enough, according to religiosity. But I’m reading Makoto Fujimura’s book Art + Faith and he’s blowing my mind. Thank you for this timely, divine message. Excited to keep following. God is using you!

I think it's interesting that video games are mentioned more than once here. Because for someone like me with adhd, video games are the ultimate addiction, especially combined with cannabis. I'd suggest for anyone with adhd to either give up games completely (which really sucks, I get it), or at least put your game area separate from your work area. This can be really difficult for anyone who's work or art is done at a computer, but I've found that keeping my computer area tidy and clean makes it easier for me to sit down and work there instead of just plugging in to gaming.

This advice can also align with Elizabeth Gilbert idea that creativity is a being, or spirit of some sort that we connect with in order to bring ideas into reality, and that nature and letting yourself be allowed to hear them out helps with the process
@tozakfilming

yes it is a deeply spiritual connection, there's a lot more happening within than people think when engaging in creativity and if we can be more conscious about that truth, we will astound ourself w our work

This might get buried, but studying the art is so so important. Learning art theory, music theory, dissecting how it’s used in your favorite works, will unlock more levels of creatigivtu bc you don’t have to re-discover these fundamental things that exist in art and music or whatever. Also- don’t wait for inspiration. If you’re not inspired do studies of something. Just trying to emulate someone else’s technique. Just constantly make. Each drawing is a step closer to unlocking this thing inside you.

I have been doing programming for 3 - 4 years now, and I love doing game developement. However, whenever I try to get into it these last 2 - 3 years, it is like I'm lacking passion, I immediately feel burned out, bored or stressed with it, and I just stop trying to do it. I wish I knew what was bothering my soul, because I really want to improve at games and I want to make more games, but its just like a higher force propelling me to not do anything.
