This is how my fitness coach taught me to do Hiit cardio years ago. Thanks for the video. I use the elliptical and the stair climber.

This video has been long overdue. There are thousands of influencers on KZitem calling a low and moderate intensity workout HIIT. Or calling ANYTHING HIIT. 🤣

Should I do my strength training workout before my HIIT workout or vice versa? Great video!😁

This is just my personal choice based on what I've seen worked for me.. I do any strength training, lifting first to make sure that I can give it as much of my strength, energy and intensity, concentration and focus as possible and find it easier to still muster enough go, for cardio at the end. Doing cardio 1st leaves me feeling fatigued and I feel that it definitely takes away from giving as much as possible to strength training and possibly tweaking or injuring myself based on the fatigue from first doing cardio.

Great video. Recently watched various "HIIT" videos on YT. At first, I was laughing at what was repeatedly posited as "high intensity" then eventually ready to cry after so many at the realization that BS marketing had won again with the duped sheep masses praising subpar instruction that won't get them the results they are promised. I have actually been incorporating Tabata land sprinting protocols for many years, but that Assault Air Runner makes me explode with jealousy.

Yeah it's a super frustrating issue and hopefully we can make a small dent at it! PS, the assault air runner is super awesome!

HIIT training is absolutely the best method for burning body fat. The release of testosterone and growth hormone are peaked after this type of training. But u cannot perform HIIT for over 30seconds at 85-95% effort! No way u can for 90 seconds!!!. Best routine is 20 seconds all out Rest 10 seconds rest. Repeat for 4 minutes then 4 minute cool down.

Agreed, but i think he meant to reach this level of 85-95% on thus workout Liske you star your workout with 50% effort and you keep pushing till you reach your 80-95% of out of breath... Otherwise its impossible, Even sprinters like bolt can't handle this rhytme for 90 sc hehehe Even cheetah 😅

Love this video! How would you format what you do on assault runner for someone who doesn't have one? And what do you think about burpees and kettlebell swings, two staples of proposed HIIT workouts?
@CitizenAthletics

You could transfer the run workout to any treadmill, or apply the concept to any way of doing cardio. With burpees and kettlebell swings, you could but you'd have to likely keep the intervals short and really push the pace on them.

What if you are a beginner? How to ease into HIIT?

What about training with kettlebells? Swings and snatches can be very taxing both aerobically and from a resistance training standpoint: Would that be a suitable kind of exercise for HIIT that is a good compromise between pure aerobic exercise (such as running or biking) and circuit training with weights? Swing for 40'', rest 20'', snatch 40'' rest 20'' and so on? Provided one doesn't exceed the 16kg (or 12kg if you really want to push on speed, in my case) I found it a killer workout and my HR is kept at the 85%+ threshold you mention as a basic requirement for HIIT.

You can do this with mouvements such as thruster, snatch, devil presses, burpee, intense mouvements wher you use nearly all body parts and with high intensity, Yes this is a killing mouvements !!!!!!
