What a great actor and script, so raw it gives me goosebumps every time i watch it. Great acting from two excellent actors and a film that portrays humanity on so many levels. A very sad loss.

The online community as a whole could benefit from this 100%. A bunch of cocky shitless kids who will throw surface level insults or quips out to make a point.. Genuinely not having experienced things first hand but laughing or mocking someone who has. Throwing out "Commie", "Fascist", "Nazi" whatever even though they themselves truly have never experienced the kind of totalitarian oppression those ideologies and governments can bring.

What I love about this scene, is Williams throws life experience at him. Death, tragedy, love. Some of the most beautiful and devastating things a human can experience…not even his mega mind can comprehend as he blocks it all out. Towards the end William breaks him finally to where he can actually feel true raw pure emotion and not be retarded about it. Decipher it, process it. You can be book smart, but emotionally intelligent trumps that majority of the time.
@danynumero6

I don’t think it’s a case where emotional intelligence trumps book smarts every time, but more so that both are essential to living a fulfilled life, and that you can’t have one without the other. They both supplement each other. You need both to gain any kind of knowledge or wisdom in life.

You wouldn't know what it's like to wait for someone who you only want their time. While everyone thinks you're wasting your time. They laugh at your story and don't believe you. Yet you show them proof and everything. Then get mad at you when you tell them you had enough. You think you understand the hell I have been through. No, you only heard what you wanted to hear.

You should probably watch it again, then, since you missed so much. He reads a lot, and has a photographic memory. So he totally retains all he reads. He does a lot of math, and is able to do math the best professors can't do: He's so good at it the NSA offers him a job. He gets all these books from the Boston public library. When he's not drinking and fighting, he's reading. That's his character. There are lots of examples of this throughout the film.

Whoosh……straight over your head! Did you even watch it as you completely missed the whole point of the movie? Will is a genius & reads all the time, it’s shown throughout the movie, his room is stacked with books & because he has a photographic memory he retains everything he reads. Get a clue….
