The standing bar probably dissuades drunks from passing out at tables because they have to stand and not get comfortable by sitting so that's also clever. I have found that standing while eating heavier foods like pub food you can fit in more and don't get those cramps from a full stomach you get sitting so I stand while eating more than sitting at home so I'd like this place.

@@LazyMe420 it's likely more a lunch spot than anything else. You pop down, grab something filling to eat, have a beer or two, and the heavy food keeps the alcohol from hitting you too badly so you can go back to the office.

A Japanese restaurant in Novi Mi called FUMI used to have the menu only in Japanese and they answered the phone in Japanese and the waitresses didn't speak English too good. Or at least pretended not to speak English too good. They always had a line of Japanese people lined up out the door. Have heard of other places like that. See if there is a place like that around somewhere, can save on some air fare and jet lag and still get the same type of experience. FUMI is still there, only with an English menu, not sure about the other things.

Eating is a comfort thing, and the idea of having to stand for a hour after a long hard day of manual labor doesn't appeal to everyone. Gonna need the city. I myself live in Kentucky and my grandmother was full blooded Japanese and owned her own restaurant back in the day. So any time I hear of ANY Japanese restaurant I always taste it to think of her and of course judge it in good spirit!

How big are you? Im a 6ft 1in american and i used to eat 5000+ calories a day working manual labor. I eat less now but back then me or any of my brothers could eat all that at once, but we also only eat two meals on some days, so two big meals. But he should take home the food if it's too much. We are all so different based off of weight, metabolism, and activity level... So YES youre totally right this is a meal for a tall person or athlete or someone who eats all their calories in 1 or 2 meals for convenience. Your stomach adjusts over time. I have only respect for you, and it was a lot, just wanted to share my own experiences good or bad.

There is a price lists, and most of the items are 500 Yen or less. It is possible that the TOTAL bill is US $ 10 (~ 1500 Yen, for today's exchange rate).
