I was wondering why my greenstuff had solid lumps in it after mixing it and now I know. Have to peel the protective plastic away from them right away. Thanks for a great video!

Great! Glad you got that memo! But key thing is to not store it in plastic. Whether it's in the fridge or not, if you store it in plastic, there's a risk it's going to react with the container.

there's a lot of those "you're doing X wrong!" videos on the internet, but this one made me stop and say "guess I have been doing this wrong." Well. Time to get some mason jars then.

Wish I'd found this out years ago, and thanks for the heads up about suppliers here in the UK. I had to do a bit of sculpting this morning and yep, the middle of the tape green stuff had to go. Now, all I need is some airtight glass jars. Great stuff )O(

Well Future You is glad you found this video now! ♥ Do you get mason jars in the UK for preserving jams and stuff? The ones I use are the very short, squat versions of those, and they're PERFECT.

WOULDN'T THAT BE WONDERFUL! But I think they wouldn't love adding "Warning! We package this in material that will actually cause you putty yo become unusable if left in prolonged contact!"

@@ModernSynthesist I'd imagine they could put a best before date (which would encourage people to buy more as it's a perishable item). I'd also think they could say for best results store in a sealed glass container. That way they vaguely shift the responsibility to us. But to be honest I'd imagine their concern is on sales.

I've noticed a simliar thing happening with the grey part of milliput as you describe with the yellow stuff reacting with plastic. good to know

Yeah, probably best to remove all types of epoxy putty from the packaging it comes in, and repot them all into glass jars

SylCreate have a great service and send order out quickly. Store your tube in the freezer when not in use, just cut off how much you want to use

Glad you've had good experience with them! The key thing, as I state in the video: TAKE THE PLASTIC WRAP OFF THE YELLOW. Cold will slow down the reaction the putty has with plastic wrapping, but it won't stop it.

I've been storing my yellow and blue stuff in separate jars but I find that they stick to the sides of the jar which is a bit of a pain when I need to get some out, do you think using something like baking paper to create a gap between the inside of the jar and the putty would help prevent the stickiness? Also do you have any tips for storing milliput?
@ModernSynthesist

Greenstuff is one of the stickiest materials on the planet, so if you put paper in there, it's probably just going to stick to the paper. If you're using a glass jar, you SHOULD be able to just scrape it off the glass with a metal tool. That's what I do. And I would store milliput the same way. The key: GLASS jars, not plastic. And air-tight. If you want bonus points, you can store those in your freezer if you're storing it and not using it for half a year or more.

@@ModernSynthesist Baking paper is usually coated with silicone, so it shouldn't stick. But, if the epoxy has the same reaction to silicone as to the original plastic wrap, it might just cause the original problem again.

@@AshleyBlackwater Yes, I bought that revolutionary product. Funny that the gap goes away when the two parts are wrapped in the same plastic and stored on their sides. So I paid extra for some Greenstuff with part cut away, and then I had to cut and dispose of even ore Greenstuff! Just another reason that friends don't let friends shop at Greenstuff world

@@ModernSynthesist Not had that happen with my gap stuff, but with the hard skin it does kinda defeat the point. I also found a store offering GS with gap alot cheaper than anywhere else, which i'm sure was an error tbh. As for GSW, they make okay things sometimes (thought i'm sure none of it is their originaly), and I've gotten a few things made by them from other sellers that work well (thier big botles of matt surface primers are quite good, whilst not expensive). But in general yeah, they're a scummy store with wonky products. Weirdly, thier green stuff bars like in the video, are cheaper at £13.95 (at chaos cards) than buying the same amounts from sylcreate at £15.79 for 100g (who I think are the original people who make Green stuff?) , its even stored in the same internal packaging. Hoping its the same stuff!
