It is just not fair for women to compete against biological males no matter how long they have been on hormone therapy, says global tennis legend Martina Navratilova.
Swimming's world governing body FINA on June 19 voted to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in elite women's competitions and create a working group to establish an "open" category for them in some events as part of its new policy.
Ms Navratilova said she supports the increasing bans on trans athletes in international sporting events as "sports biology matters".
"Live your life to the fullest but you really can't have it all and sports biology matters," she told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
"it's just not fair.
"If they've gone through that male puberty you really cannot make it a fair fight at the end at all."
