I bought the Tab S8 back in February for the university and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, this has been a massive game changer for me, I used to carry between 3 or 4 notebooks almost every day in my backpack for my classes but now with this tablet I only carry one notebook and my tablet, I even had to buy a smaller backpack because it has saved me a lot of weight and space. I also use the Micro SD card slot to have all my files from previous semesters and with all the functions this device has I barely use my laptop these days, it's been my best purchase ever

Watching this on my 1-year-old, still great S8... And I agree with every single point you make. 😃 I had been using my good old iPad Mini before that one, and even though I prefer its smaller size, Apple products got soooo expensive in Poland where I live, that I finally chose S8 - and never looked back. 6 months ago my work computer started having issues with video calls, but I switched to my tablet, and the front facing camera is where it's at - I never even wanted to fix the camera on my work computer after that 😅 AND I love watching YT, Netflix, and read comics on it, the screen is great, even if it's not an OLED. After this year - I also higly recommend it. 😁

I bought an extremely discounted S7+ last year from Best Buy and it's changed how I do basically everything. I have a work laptop but I've ditched my Chromebook (which was an admittedly nice one) for this GORGEOUS screen and better speakers. It's my main consumption device and I took basically everything distracting from my phone and put it onto that. I'm more focused throughout the day AND I've got a device that is a purposeful distraction. Battery life lasted all the way through a 11 hour flight to Europe and I honestly couldn't think of a better product for me and my needs.

The move to "Armoured Aluminium" is a reall good move from Samsung. I've been using the Tab S7, the older model for a bit over 2 years now, and the number of scuff marks and nicks it's picked up on the sides (that aren't protected by the Keyboard Case) really makes it look a lot worse. On the other hand, the ipad screen has brighter display and better color range, but lightning and limited disk space stinks. I bought the ipad as a Synthesizer and for GarageBand, my daily Driver is still my Samsung, but the iOS files App does a nice job in scanning documents and handling .pdf files. Some Apple Apps feel really polished, Android is lacking there. I prefer the file management in Android OS, although some of my folders are really messy. Filewise, I feel restricted in iOS. Depends what you are using it for. Unless you are doing professional work. I think most people won't notice the difference of the OLED screen. Samsung makes great panels already.
@andyH_England

LCD panels are now so good that the difference between OLED is minimal. I am not sure they add much value apart from media watching. Yet they have a plethora of negatives including PWM, limited lifespan (quality), less battery life, lower max brightness, etc.

I sincerely hope they're vastly better than the S6. We use the Tab S6 for work and they're garbage! Battery doesn't hold a charge, slow, unresponsive, and the performance drops significantly after about 90 days. After that we swap them out and they're sold to some tech store to be refurbed.

A long time iPad user, I gravitate towards this device. I am just concerned about updates down the line. I still have an iPad Air (yes, the one from 2013) in daily use, and it is still getting security updates. Given Samsung's, or Android devices in general, history for updates, I am afraid of ending up with an expensive paperweight in just 2 or 3 years.
